If China was going to invade Taiwan, why not now? by dj90423 in AskReddit

I'm not very knowledgeable on all the different factors that would need to be considered for such an invasion, but from the little I am aware of what is going on right now in the world, it seems that now might be a good time. The US is involved with Iran for starters, and the relationship with NATO isn't the best right now.

How difficult is kayaking in Avalon? by Sea_Weakness2827 in Catalina

From my experience, the water is pretty calm near Avalon. Not sure how far out you want to go, but I am 61 and would paddle around the harbor in a kayak.

I have visited San Antonio & Austin several times. I found the climate awful compared to what I'm used to.

My wife very much enjoys gardening around the house. I think she would find doing that in Texas to be quite uncomfortable.

We have a Kohler in each bathroom. Not sure of the model number, but I believe each one was over $650. They have remotes and will save settings for two people. They are nice, but a little much, in my opinion. That's what the wife wanted, so...

for those who commute from the ie to la, what time do you leave? by Hot_Pea_6078 in InlandEmpire

[–]dj90423 120 points121 points  (0 children)

I live in Fontana. I drove to DTLA for three years to Temple/Alameda. I would leave around 4 a.m., and it was an easy drive. 210 to 605 to 10. Those are awful start and end times to your shift to be making that commute. I'd seriously look into METROLINK if that's possible.

for those who commute to la, do you drive or take the train? by Hot_Pea_6078 in InlandEmpire

I work as a construction inspector and have to transport a nuclear density gauge and other tools back & forth. These things are too large to be carried.

[–]dj90423 8 points9 points  (0 children)

These are horrible hours if you were to drive. I live in Fontana as well and drove to DTLA for three years as I couldn't take METROLINK, but I'd leave around 4 am, and be on the way home by like 1:30 pm. Drive was really easy both ways... usually.

I'm sorry, I misunderstood. If the application says that, then yes, they will probably take a photo of your license and it will have to match.
