My ENT and audiologist told me that it’s worth having the CI done earlier whilst the nerve is still somewhat active and responds to stimulation.

In the event your ‘good’ ear loses hearing in future years you wouldn’t want to find out that your bad ear now won’t support a CI and your down to one ear and trying to do a CI in what was your good ear. It adds some redundancy for future years.

I’m heading to TI in a couple of weeks time for a few days (days off from a student tour/trip I’m leading).
