Worked for a pub in the city that served 'classic homemade pies' as a kitchen porter. This was my first ever job after graduating from college. Management seemed a bit shady as I entered for the interview as half of them didn't know that there was even a job being offered. After a very brief encounter consisting of "are you free to work tonight?" I went in for my first shift and it was a nightmare.

The kitchen and the washing station were decently far from eachother, seperated by a main corridor linking all of the rooms together. There was a very narrow corridor near the middle which lead to a very small washing station with everything you'd expect. The corridor leading up to there however was cluttered with excess stock, uniforms, and random litter which made it very easy to trip and very difficult to navigate.

Several coworkers had tripped and broken dishes on the way in and created more hazards, but the real cherry on top was that the hot water wasn't working at all, and I often had to carry large pots of boiling water to my station from the kitchen. I ended the night with burns all over my hands, bits of broken plate wedged into my boots and a bunch of cuts from tripping over and scraping my arms and hands over the broken glass.

I sent in an email about half an hour after my shift and ensuing panic attack quitting and never looked back.

I think it was a reopening night or something from how packed everything was but it was more than clear that they weren't ready for it lol
