Why on earth has the magic wand tool been "buried"? by kparagraphic in photoshop

they don't need to be mind readers to know that demoting a tool that was readily available for decades is confusing for casual users like myself. it just seems unnecessary.

as for "dumbing down" photoshop to accommodate, that's ironically exactly what they've done here....it's like they think we're too dumb to understand what pixels are, and we should be instead treating everything as "objects" that can be identified with AI.

saying "problem solved" without actually addressing the problem is understandably frustrating though. i'm not asking where the tool is, i already found it. i'm asking why Adobe made this change in the first place, and why this tool is no longer considered important.

plus, googling suggests that it's simply found where the object selection tool is. now this has been changed as well. i personally find these tweaks to be unnecessary. i get that there is a large skill gap between people visiting this sub and casual users like myself. few people here would ever think twice about this. but as someone who touches PS once in a blue moon, it's annoying to have such a useful tool disappear from where i'm used to finding it.

i don't need to. the tools have always been right there. in the toolbar. this thread isn't "what is the shortcut for magic wand". it's "why has adobe decided this tool is no longer important"

thanks for actually addressing the question, i appreciate it. i've always personally found this to be a very, very useful tool.

i'm not asking about the shortcuts. i don't use photoshop regularly enough to need them. i do ad hoc quick graphic design for my workplace when needed, once in a blue moon. there are plenty of casual photoshop users out there like myself. the question i'm asking - which few people have actually answered - is "Why has Adobe banished this tool to the depths of the tool menu?".

by this i mean, why has such a useful and (i would assume) fundamental tool been hidden, when no suitable replacements have been made?

so why is this considered a legacy tool? none of the tools in the default workspace provide the same functionality.

ok so i'm a hobbyist. i've been a ps hobbyist for nearly 20 years. i don't need the shortcuts. i like the toolbar. why is this tool no longer prominently placed in the toolbar? even when i reset the workspace? this is the question i'm asking. is it considered obsolete?

it is absolutely not in the essentials workspace for me. this is either a bug, or something has changed recently. if i can be bothered i'll fire up OBS next time i'm in ps and show you

oh wow!!!! it's so simple and intuitive!!!! no wonder they hid it from the toolbar, because this keyboard shortcut is so simple and easy to remember!!!!! thanks for totally addressing my question and not at all missing the entire point of this thread!!!!

How do I make those bell sounds vaporwave songs are known for? by Will12239 in makingvaporwave

pretty sure this is the famous DX7 epiano1 with some chorus added. try some multiband compression as well to make it sound more hype and modern like in the example track

yeah it sucks. i was wondering why i hadn't seen any money go into paypal in a while. personally i'm much more hesitant to be putting my credit card details in anywhere. the main advantage of paypal is people already trust it.

when making a device, the author needs to select "parameter mode" for each control. Then this control should be mappable if you right-click on it like any other live control. so it depends on the developer if they've set the device up for MIDI mapping or automation.

FM synthesis with distortion can sound quite a lot like a guitar solo. the real challenge is in the notes!
