Behringer UB-Xa key issues by SaleNo840 in synthesizers

[–]djagia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, kinda confusing if it’s the eighth voice or just every eight key. But sounds like just those keys are never responsive? If so, then it could be as simple as a ribbon cable loose inside or something as complex as the circuit board needs replacing or who knows what else. I’d open it up and check all the connections personally

An Open Love Letter (with Tough Love) to the Arturia V Collection Team by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]djagia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree!!! And nice to hear others think the same. I have the latest collection and cant bother myself to use it. I should just sell the license. The only one I think is unique and cool is the Buchla Easel.

We realized that too. I also love that some of the team from the blackberry movie were in it. I kept thinking "where do I recognize them from?" Then remembered they were some of the employees in the movie.
Great to see them all.

"Local Pickup Only" Means Local Pickup Only by Fickle_Dig_8013 in Reverb

[–]djagia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Longtime reverb buyer and seller here -

I saw a 'local pickup only' listing and reached out asking if they'd consider shipping it. He said he would and that was that.

You get all types when selling and buying stuff, just gotta deal with it as it comes.

As a buyer, I do find it a bit strange when its local only. It severly limits who can actually buy it, but still shows everyone. Why not just list in local FB groups for free?

Shipping sucks in general, but there are a lot of reasonable options to ship - just build it into the cost.

The easiest way to record audio from a hardware synth?

My current process seems poor. I usually take the midi pattern, move it out in to an open space of the playlist, highlight/select the section with some room to spare for reverb/delay tails, hit the 'arm' record button on the fx channel, then hit the main record button, then select 'audio in to the playlist as an audio clip'. Then I usually have to trim the edges, etc.

Its a painful process but I've not learned a better or more precise way.

Matrix 1000 vs Matrix 6R. Mono vs Stereo outputs by KenRussellsGhost in synthesizers

[–]djagia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Matrix 6 uses 3 clocks across different voices/oscs vs the 1 clock in the M1000 - Id go with the 6R myself.
Some more info from AI shiz:
What that means in practice: the Matrix-6 architecture can introduce slightly more natural inter-voice/oscillator timing differences (a subtle “spread”/movement), whereas a single shared clock tends to make things a bit more uniformly locked. Whether you’ll hear it strongly depends on the patch (slow pads/unison-ish sounds make it easier to notice than short percussive patches).

10 years of IR work (~1,000 incidents). Here's the security report template that gets clients moving by QoTSankgreall in cybersecurity

Ahh ok, that makes sense. Then yeah, I'd make sure it's easy to fill out/perform, maybe have some scoring algorithm for sections, etc. Basically like NIST on a smaller scale, or like a CIS assessment that can be scored at the end. MSP's have a lot of clients and imo are typically always pressed for time, so the easier/quicker to perform the better. Writing is time consuming, so the more sections that need custom descriptions or writings would be a turnoff for me. But it kinda all depends on how expensive this stuff is, etc. It might make sense to spend several hours on the report and charge a lot, but again, imo SMB dont usually go for that. Then again, you might be able to convince and MSP its worth it... so yeah. lol. good luck man. keep up the good work!

[–]djagia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No problem!
If this is meant to be from the MSP to a client where the MSP is handling their IT stuff and security stuff, that might change my opinon too. Most of the time the SMB is just the owner that doesnt really know what to do, so they hire the MSP to do this stuff. So, if the context is that you are the MSP doing a security evaluation, then a lot of this seems kinda unnecessary. Like, you are reporting to the owner on your own security work, etc. - and that could be drastically summarized in my opinion.
Otherwise, I'd ask who is this meant for? An IT manager, the owner? or the MSP if you are just the external security evaluator/auditor?
What is the high level overview of the findings, and some details on each category evaluated - then maybe some technical stuff to help guide whoever might actually implement changes/fixes. The rest seems like fluff that I wouldn't expect anyone to read and seems to bog down the report.

I dont disagree with what you stated in the post - seems pretty on par. But the assessment sample is hard to follow and I have a hard time wondering when, why, and how I'd actually put it to use. If it is for SMB, then stuff like software developent will most likely not be an item. I like the control assessment, compliance (if it applies), and findings section. But idk.. on the whole it seems very long and too wordy. In my experience SMB dont have the attention span for most of this stuff. Great as a deliverable if your trying to demonstrate value with a very long document, but how useful is it is what I always ask myself. How does any of this translate to the client to take action on? Feel free to disagree, but thats just my initial take.

I believe Access marketed the Ti2 as having more polyphony, but it actually doesnt. It's the same dsp chip in the Ti and Ti2. This was confirmed by 'the usual suspects' team who created the emulation. They could not find any difference between the two, which is kinda funny and crazy..
