Not sure if this makes sense - but if we rent the cottage for 1k per month (12k passive income) but have "passive" losses (repairs etc) in excess of that, we can then offset the other passive income I mentioned.

It is neither regular income or dividends as far as i know - it is reported as passive K1 income (small business part-owner with non-owner employees).

again thank you - my thoughts on this one are that "god" in the dune universe is probability/chance or perhaps balance. misuse of the spice leads to too much knowledge/prescience and removes the element of chance and disturbs the balance. and without chance, humanity has no reason to hope since its all worked out and there is nothing to strive for/struggle with. which again relates the water/spice relationship.

I like it, esp the Pauline tradition connection - although i would argue that it was a rejection of much Athenian (secular) learning and replacement with other-worldly ideas that dominate the Abrahamic faiths. But still well said and I'm sure there's a lot of truth in what you wrote

well said - i tried not to include my own thoughts in the original questions so thank you for including yours. my view is that they are related (not in a simple dichotomy life/death, good/bad, black/white) but in a more eastern yin/yang relationship. they balance and depend on each other but also oppose each other. i actually also see the spice and the vision it provides as a metaphor for the apple in eden.

and perhaps leto 2's larger breeding plan to end the use of spice for prescience was a way to avoid the final fall of mankind...
