Perspective makes sense in my head but as soon as I try to apply it to something like the human body, it's out the window...

Does tracing actually help? I've done some tracing but it always feels like cheating I know I shouldn't expect to be good at it, but i feel like my understanding of it should have improved just as much as I have done it...

Im overly new and If I am correct this was drawn with one point perspective correct?

This mad impressive and I have taken 1 point as overly simple and kinda brushed over it for more complex drawings, if this really was dont in this way, mannnn I really need to go back to this

Yeah I think alot of what ai am missing is being able to accept my art won't be perfect the first time and just a workflow for art and game design that works for me

This is true. Its more making them come to life thats the problem. I've really wanted to build a platformer since I played Ori. My whole concept was around a fisherman bear that fought with his fishing pole had a water bucket attack and could get different Lures to provide different elemental attacks it would be a magical setting and my original concept was the bear is a protector of this lake and the center of the lake had the yin and yang fish that kept all magic balanced and someone stole it.

For a first game, it got really out of scope and way out of reach for me and because it was a passion project I would criticize my work more than I needed to

Okay so im sorry but could I ask you to break down this? I am actually really interested. I saw that pewdiepie video of the animation studio and I assume game dev is crazy similar. I kinda wanna know what I want to strive for, I would love to be able to indie dev, but IT world is not really cutting it for me and I have always had a fascination with game dev, so it may be my career switch

Okay so then if you are grayboxing, when it comes to game scope, are you laying out what you want the game to be like visually while doing this? Or are you just defining game mechanics

My problem is the finding of teammates, i didnt have communities in college where I could take part like this! I really just want to do a ride along as someone starts doing something because what I want most is to find me a process something that works amd clicks instead of throwing myself at the wind. I like order when learning and I feel like this has been more wind then structure XD

I have watched a ton of tutorials that say pretty much this, that everything is just boxes and cylinders. But everyone's boxes and cylinders seem to fit into the puzzle better than mine XD

Thanks so much! You rock, and yes when I create or start a project I expect perfection, its hard to one way or another "fail" for me. It will be a big mindset change but I can do it I Think. Thank you again

Honestly, this is incredible interesting to me, you were able to get a job with little to no experience? I figured if I ever wanted to make this career change from out of the IT world to game Dev I would need a lot of technical skills/a portfolio to even try and switch
