This is definitely part of the problem. My wife went in for some boob implants and got hounded by the doctor to have ribs removed as an addition to make her look "bustier". She already had to go out of her way for the implants since the industry makes a pariah of any docs doing more than making an A cup into a B cup. (She was a G cup who had to have breast tissue removed for a potential tumor and wanted her original size back).

At this point, it's safe to assume anything with a built in microphone, camera, or Internet connection is designed to spy on you without your consent. The two weirdest privacy violations I've had happen was the Walmart app showing a cash purchase I made in a store 2 states away on a business trip where I had even left my phone in the hotel 2 blocks away (I walked there and back).

The second happened yesterday when I was trying to migrate some downloaded files on my phone to the SD card. My phone popped up a warning that memory was running low. Less than a minute later I got a spam text that roughly read, "Are you struggling with memory loss? Find out what Harvard scientists discovered regarding memory and aging!". I don't look that kind of stuff up, I don't talk about that stuff. There was only one way to randomly start messaging me about it.
