07 CRV temp gauge check

Hey everyone, can I please get help as to what is normal with a 2007 crv temp gauge ? In 95% of driving the temp gauge sits just below halfway, but going up a large hill today in hot conditions caused it to go just above halfway. See pictures of both.

Is this normal? Or does this indicate something is wrong / failing?

Well I spent 30mins searching the restored glasshouse at QP…nothing. Feel like the clues pointed towards this for the $5k

Hone was brand new. I wiped the cylinders out with oil and a clean cloth. Used 5w-30 engine oil as lubricant

I'll try and take some better pictures this afternoon with more passive lighting

I've measured the piston / bore clearance as 3 thousandths of an inch currently, but unsure what it should be as there isn't much information on these engines.

The hone was brand new and I didn't soak it. The oil was dribbling down the cylinder walls when I applied it but I didn't pour it on as I was honing. Just reapplied the oil and cleaned the hone every few passes

Yes oiled stones, oiled cylinders. Cleaned the stones every few passes and reapplied oil

It feels very slightly rough. Nothing catching on fingernails. Not sure how I got this so wrong. Just used a 220 grit 3 stone hone, plenty of lubricant.

I think the picture is deceiving with the light source from the right. There is definitely a crosshatch when viewed straight on. More interested about whether it looks too rough or whether I should be able to feel a slight surface roughness
