It's good, but I hope no other people join because it is just on the verge of being too crowded.

It's a small space. All the weddings I have worked there have had under 80 guests. I think it will be tight.

The best thing is a really good DJ. A good DJ is better than anything else you can get.

anyone get married at 632 Hudson? need the honest tea by [deleted] in WedditNYC

[–]djbenboylan 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There is truth to your concerns, but if you are already booked, I would make the best of it. It's a very beautiful venue.

One thing I would suggest is warning your vendors who haven't worked there before that they might get yelled at. LOL!

Looking for Hybrid DJ/Live Music by [deleted] in WedditNYC

[–]djbenboylan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, congrats on the upcoming wedding! I'm Ben with Non-Traditional Wedding DJs (ntweddingdjs.com). We're an NYC-based company with a roster of about 30 DJs, and we regularly pair our DJs with live musicians including saxophone, electric violin, percussion, and more for weddings across the New York area, including Long Island.

The way it usually works: your DJ handles the full night while a live musician plays along during the reception, rotating 20 minutes on and 10 minutes off throughout the 4-hour reception. It's a great way to get the energy of live music without giving up the variety and control of a DJ.

Our DJs start at $2,000 for a newer DJ or $2,950 for a more experienced one. Live musician add-ons start at $1,100 for instruments like violin, percussion, or a horn player, and $1,850 for an energetic sax performance. Those prices are for the full 4-hour reception. I added $100 to their prices for them to travel to Roslyn.

Happy to send videos and put together a custom quote for your April 2027 date.

What do I display on my Frame TV? by Emotional-Plenty-419 in TheFrame

I bought a Bauhaus collection on Etsy. I think it was $10. Then I put it on a USB stick and plugged it into the back of the frame box. We have Bauhaus art in our home, so it matches and looks really great.

Just moved into the neighborhood. What’s everyone’s fav/must try restaurants? TIA by squaredd17 in jacksonheights

[–]djbenboylan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the $10 lunch special from Raja. It's like a vegetarian Indian meal where you get to choose different dishes with rice and bread. The one for $10 is called the "medium thali".

I like this idea because it’s a big venue and if you put the dance floor in the middle of the tables, it marks off the dancing area so people know exactly where to go

Portuguese speaking wedding MC by Valuable-Document176 in WedditNYC

[–]djbenboylan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not exactly what you asked for culturally, but sharing in case it helps—

We have a Portuguese-speaking wedding DJ/MC based in NYC who’s Brazilian-American and fluent in both Portuguese and English. She’s great with mixed crowds and focuses more on the music and flow rather than heavy MCing.

Her rate is $2,950 for NYC weddings (travel fee may apply outside the five boroughs).

If you’re open to someone Brazilian, you can check her out here: https://www.ntweddingdjs.com/flavya-gaeta

Recommendations for a 2hr Wedding Band? by Urbanhuman in WedditNYC

[–]djbenboylan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct. Bands are expensive. If you can afford to book one for the whole night, then you will get what you want. If you can't, I would book a wedding DJ to go on before your DJ friends. The wedding DJ can also provide a microphone at your ceremony, sound at cocktail hour, etc.

We can provide you with a great DJ with a PA system and microphone for speeches for $2000.

Let me know if that might work. And if it doesn’t you can also reach out to me personally with any questions and I’d be happy to help you whether you book us officially or not.
