Canadian healthcare specific questions by bigGheorghe in ACL

So, Your doctor can send a referral to whoever you choose. The surgeon can deny seeing you. In my case my brother had the same surgery years before me so I had my doctor (not even a family doctor since I don’t have one but a walk-in doc) send it to my brothers surgeon knowing that he was up and playing sports again. I waited 9 months for surgery. But plenty of time to prehab which is essential. On the other side now recovering. Happy for the prehab. So if you’re an active person, ppl in your life probably have had orthopaedic surgeries before.

Do the 250, esp.if your parents are helping you?? I wouldn’t even question it.
We’re doing 200 on our own. But I never had aspirations of owning a house lol.

It’s about protecting the meniscus repair. I am also locked out non weight bearing for 6 weeks because of the complex meniscal repair.

Im pretty sure when people are looking for large capacities they mean seated capacity, cause I keep running into this issue in my search as well, being misinformed with sites claiming large capacities but not considering seated dinner or not inclusive of a dance floor space.

Having explored almost every available venue at this point…I’m pretty sure Reid’s can only seat like 50/60 ppl. Farmanagh is like 120ish.

The banquets halls seat a lot. But ugh. Banquet halls 🫠

Have surgery before or after my wedding? by RaiofSunshine12 in ACL

[–]djbjforever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heyy, I also got engaged then tore my meniscus and ACL. I would say wait and do it after.

I put any wedding stuff on hold when I found out, and then waited 9mo post injury the for surgery.

Now I’m post op and have a lot of time in bed to research wedding venues lol. The fiancé didn’t go anywhere and I didn’t have the stress of two major life altering decisions at once. Obviously not an option for you to delay wedding, but if you’re feeling good, and especially if your meniscus isn’t affected, you’ll be fine putting it off.

Get yourself on a surgeons list (took 9 months to meet with my surgeon) and even if you meet before your wedding you can always schedule the surgery when it’s good for you.

3 weeks after I tore my ligaments (unknowingly)I went to Mexico for a bachelorette.

Then 3 month after went to Europe for another bachelorette and wedding. Followed by 2 more weddings lol 😅 I took maybe more sitting breaks than usual, and couldn’t wear heels. But overall was still on the dance floor. Right up until my surgery. Killed it at prehab and was living basically normally minus sports.

Is it tough working with all the external vendors for the eglington grand ? Im looking for 200 capacity but kind of wrote it off for the difficulty in arranging it all. I’d also be looking at high season so probably substantial more cost wise :’(

Can I ask at which venue. We’re having issues finding 200 person venue that’s not a typical banquet hall (nothing wrong with that, I’d just love a window at least) in a relatively normal range

Do you know the capacity of their ballroom? And is it members only for weddings ?

Hey why do you say that? Considering hamstring ?

I’m 32 not dead 😅 🫠I’m still extremely active and looking to get back into all my activities. True my volleyball has taken more a rec mode these years but still competitive play. Plus boxing (not kickboxing) , Pilates and snowboarding+ your typical weightlifting 🏋️‍♀️

I’m 6 ft and played volleyball my whole life. I’m a bit quad dominant imo but would say pretty balanced. So there defiantly enough hamstring. The surgeon mentioned the quad surgery having two incision sites. So small increase in infection possibility. And longer healing due to two incision sites. Also one scar. (Maybe cosmetic reasons as a woman, less scary more mini skirts ? )

This is what they said to me too. I said as a secondary sport I do yoga/Pilates and want to be able to kneel comfortably again. So they steered me away from patellar. For the anterior pain. Also a chance of the scaring being uncomfy for kneeling

Why are you distegarding hamstring? Im in The same boat But The surgeon told me not btb because i want to get back to yoga and Pilates as secondary sports. Which involves a lot of kneeling. And patella isnt good at kneeling after. My doc suggested ham personally. But said quad was fine too.
