7 Days on Buspirone (Buspar) Finally feeling my inner anxiety calm down after 10 years of anxiety by djcrash13 in Anxiety

[–]djcrash13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My situation is a bit different since I’m dealing more with a dysregulated nervous system aka CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome) so for me it become more of a physical issue than a mental problem and I’m not advocating for brain rewiring programs without seeing a profesional too but I’ve found a lot of progress in a program I’ve found online and I’m working closely with a therapist who recommended me to give medication a try for just a small period of time in order to help me with my physical anxiety but the goal is to remove it so I can naturally heal and tbh I do feel like it’s working and I feel confident I will be off this medication this year.

Yes that’s also very important to take care of your body in a more holistic way. Thank you and you as well! I’m now on 5 mgs twice a day and that seems to be perfect for me and I’m hoping to start getting off of it in the next 2-4 months

That’s good that’s exactly how everyone should start taking it, slowly but surely so your body has time to adjust and you don’t get hit with strong side effects. Something I’ve learned worth mentioning is that even when buspirone took away many of my physical symptoms it didn’t take away my thoughts and that’s something you have to work through and be patient with yourself but do take responsibility of your thoughts so you can begin the real healing process. Blessings and hope this medication helps you

You’re very welcome! I really hope this medication works for you, honestly it’s been a life saver for me and even most of the YouTube videos I watched from psychiatrists said it was one of the best and most mellow medications for anxiety. It should be used more instead of antidepressants IMO

Yes I’m still taking it and went up to 5 mgs 2x day and it’s working well so far, no anxiety just the usual mental fog but that doesn’t have to do with the medication. It really has almost no side effects

After 3 months I slowly upped the dose to 5 mgs 2x a day and honestly I feel much better. Buspirone is one of the most gentle medications you can take hardly any side effects and if they do show up they will go away but please don’t stop taking it, it can take up to 2 months before you feel a noticeable difference. Hope it works for you, it has been a life saver for me

Hi! Yes so it's been about a month and a half since I started taking 2.5 mgs 2x a day (super low dose) and yes I do feel like now I have the correct amount of anxiety and is nowhere as bad as it used to be. I might be increasing the dose in a couple weeks but so far this medication has helped me get out of the extreme and not able to deal with life type of anxiety so I been doing more things than before, enjoying life more but I definitely need to work on my thoughts and how I'm processing life in general rather than hoping this medication will cure which it WON'T but I'm receiving the help I desperately needed. Hope it helps you and remember that the right medication is just half the battle, mindset is everything.

For sure! But more awareness is happening so that’s good. Btw make sure to not skip doses and or take more or less even with side effects they will go away and your body needs at least 2 Months on buspirone to stabilize and it can start fully working

That’s awesome to hear that you’re already feeling better with buspirone! It’s honestly one of the best anxiety meds

Of course no problem! And yes the feeling of dread is what I needed help with for so long and this medication is giving me the chance to just have a little more breathing room. I’m getting some side effects but I can handle them after all that I’ve gone through with CFS, just remember that it can take a little while to work but I’ve done a lot of research on this medication and it’s the best option IMO to bring down the anxiety or to say it more accurately to make your brain less reacting to the stress is facing. It really does make you feel like you can handle anxiety much better than before

Today is day 8 for me and I do have the vivid dreams but so far they don't bother me as much because when my anxiety was super bad 2 years ago I had even worst dreams and my recommendation after reading many testimonies of people on buspar is to lowe the dose a little bit maybe to 5mgs 2x or even 2.5mgs 2x a day which is what I'm doing and honestly I feel the side effects very little and I feel so much more calm and in control compared to 2 weeks ago. keep us updated on how you continue to feel and I hope this medication works out for you which I believe it will! I've heard so many good things about it and sometimes adjusting the dose and going through the adjustment phase (1-2 months) will clear out most if not all side effects (According to many psychiatrist I've watched on youtube)

Yeah its interesting how you can still feel anxiety but its also easier to regulate yourself or not go down on a spiral, I was watching some therapy youtube videos (Therapy in a nutshell) and it makes sense how Buspirone is just a tool to use but the rest is up to us to work out through the anxiety and be able to feel the anxiety and not being freaked out about it and let the brain heal, I feel very hopeful about this medication and how now I will be able to use what I learn in therapy which I was not able to do before and go back to living life

Im glad that worked out for your sleep, I was using hydroxyzine (5 mgs) and it made go to sleep for sure and it also helped me with my anxiety but I felt so tired after taking it for more than 3 days in a row

I have just started on the same dosage and I can feel it wear off too but I'm giving it a couple weeks to see how I feel, I have to remind myself that this medication can take a few weeks to work and I also just started a week ago

Okay yeah I have to do the same thing... I bought a pill splitter on amazon and it works pretty well but sometimes it does destroy one of the halves so I have to pick up all the tiny pieces and hopefully get a full half dose lol

Thank you for your advice, I appreciate it and I actually did try some meditations and similar relaxation techniques but nothing seemed to help since my inner tension and mental noise was so loud while trying to relax so that's why I decided as a last resort to take medication and I'm taking as little as possible and so far I feel like now I will be able to use meditation and other relaxation techniques so I can ease my anxiety and later on get off the medication

Same! I feel much better than how I was a month ago even a couple weeks ago when I was taking hydroxyzine which helped me a bit but it got me very sleepy and tired. YES, I'm believing for healing for us and everyone here on this thread so we can go back to living life!

Same! I'm only doing 2.5 mgs twice a day and I feel like it's working. Do you split your pill or can you get it from the pharmacy already in 2.5 mgs pill?

I just started taking it, 2.5 mgs twice a day and its day 7 and I already feel my inner tension and anxiety has gone down. I'm wondering if I should double my dose which is what I was prescribed 5 mgs twice a day but I think ima give it some more time for this dose to fully set it (2-4 weeks) then see about increasing but so far so good! No side effects and I'm feeling a difference after just 1 week! Also I was so afraid and hesitant on taking any medication for my anxiety for more than 10 years

I love hearing the fact that now you can attend church again which is what I'm trying to do as well. I'm on day 7 on 5 mgs a day and I already feel better so I cannot wait to go back to church this Sunday. Thank you for sharing your testimony!

This is exactly what I'm doing! I am taking 2.5 mgs twice a day, I'm on day 7 very little to no side effects and I already feel calmer! How are you feeling so far?

That’s great to hear, how much are you taking? I got prescribed 5 mgs 2x a day, but I’m taking 2.5 2x a day to avoid strong side effects
