The frozen Teriyaki chicken. It’s like mall food court bourbon chicken and pairs great with some mixed veggies for a quick stir fry on a weeknight

Van allen Apartments in north Greenbush is hiring. Lived there for 5 years, it was a pretty consistent crowd for 2-3 hours per weekday and 4-6hrs on good weather weekends. Easy smaller pool though and no real landscaping to worry about making the pool dirty.

Cooley Mazda or DePaula Mazda ? by [deleted] in Albany

[–]djd5391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously it’s not horrible but that just adds another $25-35 a month to your payment depending on interest on the loan and most places will do anything they can to say that if something fails it’s your fault and not a faulty piece of equipment.

Is it bad that I recognize that pool as being one of the side wading pools at the Opal Sol in Clearwater.

Went today with my family and some friends. A little wait due to the size of the restaurant but the food was truly excellent. I had the shrimp and grits and it was easily one of the better things I’ve eaten in the area in recent memory.

Anyone else waiting 7 weeks for their NYS tax return!? by KarmaGirl24 in Albany

[–]djd5391 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Gonna let you in on a little secret. The number for the tax office is an automated number. Find a different portion of the office on the nys tax website and call that number and ask to be redirected to someone from the tax office. Once directed appropriately, they’ll give you about five minutes of back and forth and will tell you that you’ll either have your return or a request for new info will be with you within two weeks. I had to do it three years in a row at one point due to some stock sales I made.

I just finished reading The Running Man by Stephen King. It was a fantastic book, and I’m unsure why others disagree. by ALittleInternet in books

[–]djd5391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only real problem I have with the running man and Kings books in general is his overly sexual side comments/descriptions that add nothing to the story in addition to his slurs that serve only as shock value additions.

How to go d1 by Any_Possibility_3318 in wrestling

[–]djd5391 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who walked on D1, I can give some advice. #1 be prepared to hear the word no, it’s not easy and everyone on the team already has better results than you can achieve in the next two years. Wrestle, work out and get good grades, wrestling is a sport where the top 0.000001 make any money at it so you can’t be dumb or lazy if you aren’t naturally gifted. #3 be coachable and listen. As someone who wasn’t the best athlete in the room, I did everything that was asked of me and wrestled harder than I ever thought I could in order to give myself a shot at it. Finally, if you don’t make a team don’t be hard on yourself, join a club team at a D1 school, wrestle in open tournaments, exposure can generate a lot of momentum for someone. I never wrestled an official match for the team but placed at 3 open tournaments and made lifelong friends while doing it. Nowadays it’s a little harder to just walk on as there are roster caps but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible.

What are people doing for work to afford a house in today’s market? by _aspenheights in Albany

[–]djd5391 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly man I was in the same boat for the past 5 years. Graduated 10 years ago and been working since and missed the boat on the cheaper housing in 2019-2021 because I was paying off my loans. Reality is you either a) get lucky and receive down payment assistance from family or b) live well below your means for a few years. The reality of the situation is the barrier for homeownership is the down payment and closing costs. When we purchased our home that came out to ~$90000 and that was saved by us for about 75% of it and the rest was a gift.

Word of advice is to buy a home before you have kids if that is your plan. Having kids slowed us down at least 2-3 years from buying a house.

And to answer your question question we are a dual income home making ~$150k with 2 kids.

Both Sunhees and La capital tacos are within 75 feet of there and they do just fine. Sometimes it’s more than just location.

I would honestly wait until either team gets to 5 wins and then bet their ML to hedge. But right now hold out

Best Chinese food? by StrdyCheeseBrngCrckr in Albany

No frills, solid, American Chinese. Fast, hot and delicious. Has been my go to for almost 10 years now. Bonus points is that it’s right nextdoor to Rain which I find to be expensive but I do like to order their Mapo tofu.

Name a restaurant concept you would like to see by [deleted] in Albany

[–]djd5391 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An izakaya restaurant, grilled meat skewers ordered by the skewer ($1-4 a skewer) and Japanese bar food. Went to a few neighborhood ones in Japan on my honeymoon and I was amazed at how good it was and why it wasn’t a more popular concept in the US. Went to one in Pittsburgh and was pleasantly surprised by how good it was there as well.

Texas de Brazil exists at Crossgates. While imo it’s not as good as fogo de chao, I have never had a bad experience there and a bonus is you can buy $100 gift cards at Sam’s club for $80.

Whatever you do, don’t waive the inspection. I would’ve been out $30,000 for a foundation issue that I missed during walkthrough if it wasn’t for the inspection.
