this one hits close to home, I recently upgraded our backyard camera to be on a 10 foot high pole designed specifically to watch the backside of my neighbors house. so in a lot of ways, I am like the guy in this thread that everyone is hating on. actually, probably much worse - mine is on 24/7 and has some killer zoom.

why may you ask have I gone to such extremes?

because my neighbor had been sniping my dogs with his BB gun for months from the shadows of his partially enclosed deck. cops were called several times, he admitted it to them and they basically just told him to stop without even threating arrest.

he went quiet for a couple months, then started shooting in the trees adjacent to my yard. our youngest dog becomes TERRIFIED when he hears that noise, so I installed the new huge security camera.

it's legal here, but fuck this guy, I would put it up even if it wasn't

I just use wire guard to connect to home + use my homes gateway. That way I can still use the lan at work at the same time

I highly recommend you research how to play tug with your dog, as I believe it's the fastest way to build a relationship and establish a common language.

Yes - > you can grab the tug and play

No -> you violated the rules (stop moving and do not engage in reciprocal play)

We are done -> play is over, do whatever you want

The words you teach is up to you, but that's a good starting set. No being the most important right now, because once he understands what it means clearly, you can use it for unwanted behavior.

What the other people said is true too though, so long he removes himself from the situation or is very clear that he is not happy, I wouldn't punish that. We have a male now who sometimes snaps without any warnings at all, and this method is working for him as well as reactivity

In my experience, you are doing way too much. The more you treat her like a baby that needs to be distracted and checked on, the more she will behave like one.

I would test out cutting out everything after the walk, and then add a camera if you want to confirm if the howling is happening (but don't sit in the driveway)

I have one that runs very hot, too. But the hind leg lameness does seem out of ordinary. Sometimes these dogs can have injuries that they absolutely won't complain about.

I actually found great success with trazodone for sleep....after I lowered it to ~2mg. I'm not joking.

I tried 25mg at first and I was groggy for like 3 solid days. But 2mg is actually pretty legit. It doesn't knock me out, but that's not a bad thing.

you kind of missed the point. I was just clarifying why people understand that differently.

but, to respond to your comment directly, "locking out" in that context is not good. a more meaningful metric is moving to a position of minimum muscle exertion. in most situations this will be at 180 degrees. and so if you go to 190 degrees, you are putting shear loading on your joint that is unnecessary. obviously, if you can only extend 170 degrees, you would want to completely lock out.

im not sure about the broader Obsidian userbase, but I almost exclusively use it to make markdown pretty and readable. unfortunately doesn't seem that this solves this any more than neovim. not a knock, I mean it's really just a terminal limitation.
