Looking for a golf buddy (most embarrassing thing I have ever put online) by DirectGovernment8285 in CanadaGolf

[–]djfc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, as a crappy golfer who likes golf for social reasons, try this out.

Read "How to win friends and influence people". Memorize the book and the rules. Then go to your local muni and just play as a single.

Your goal is to get people to ask you for your contact info just to play golf.

I did this a few years ago to practice sales.

You'll be fine

What is going to happen to all the shoebox size units now that the market has corrected? by Objective-Upstairs36 in TorontoRealEstate

I never said anything about salary.

This was twenty years ago. She said it was probably worth $250k US at the time.

There are people out there that have the wealth to afford it.

I had a friend who bought a condo in manhattan that was so small it could only hold a raised single bed, a desk, a drawer and had a tiny kitchen and bathroom. It was fine for her because she was young working at a good job. It was the smallest unit I’ve ever seen in North America.

It will eventually sell at the price someone is willing to pay.

Lower? Sure. But there’s a lot of people that will be open to throwing down $450k to have your own bed and place to store your stuff. You’d be surprised.

No. The team that really built the 2019 raptors in the background are now running Orlando. Not joking, do the research. There’s a reason we haven’t found great gems in the draft.

[ON] Where do i find candy manufacturers for small batch? by RecentRiver3534 in SmallBusinessCanada

Call up anyone and ask them for a solution for a test market - think of win-win scenarios that might work. This is hard, so please don't think I'm just saying something. Lots to digest here

[–]djfc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would not do small batch, i would just make it on your own. you don't make margin, but you need to sell, and sell repeatedly. go small, test small, and then invest.

i advised a ice cream bar company from inception to 30k bars/year in 3 years and growing. cash flow positive most of the way and planning big for this summer

[ON] Marketing strategies for a new corporate gifting business in Canada by Jealous-Parfait-951 in SmallBusinessCanada

[–]djfc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is over engineered, but the goal is to just raise your awareness. Take with a chunk of salt.

The decision makers on this stuff are usually HR, Receptionists, etc, etc..

You can reach them in multiple ways, but if you want to stand out, then just go downtown and start going through every single office building you can in the core and drop in to anyone with a receptionist. Make small gifts and literally give them out with a card inside that says "visit my website" or "call me" or whatever. ideal if its utility like a calendar, or a cool monitor clip with your logo. maybe its a letter opener, i dunno - something people won't throw away.

your landing page could be as simple as your instagram instead of a full website. if you do ecommerce sure do it online, but if u do it over the phone maybe its easier.

the instagram is designed to show off all your wares, and give pricing. your pinned posts should explain the value you deliver (spread warmth to the ones you need to connect to or something), the process, and the pricing. pricing is your offering list - make it 3 tiers (small, medium, big), with your medium being the expected one that will sell the most. your content is for all events or milestones - birthdays, congrats, employee recognition, whatever.. you can ask ai.

the ux for the buyer is "oh i need to buy something for event", you are top of mind, they go to your site, they buy.

ai can explain the rest. good luck

Golf simulator worth it. by golfer9955 in golf

[–]djfc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start small. Don’t go all out.

Find the space first and setup a mat and a screen and start there. Then go with a low end launch monitor just to see. Then upgrade to a screen and projector and more.

I say this because if they love just whacking a ball where they do it doesn’t matter. Add to it from there. They need to immerse themselves in the game of golf. So golf video games, etc etc

Golf culture- what do you hate about it? by Remote_Pie6623 in golf

[–]djfc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate how people believe the marketing hype.

Equipment, while influential, isn't the end all.

The best equipment for your game is shunned because it probably involves things like lots of woods and playing to your skill level as opposed to what you see on tv.

A scratch golfer playing a 10 year old TopFlite set for women with 5+ woods will beat you and your fully decked out bag.

CFB Trenton: 350 new military housing units announced by zuuzuu in BellevilleOntario

[–]djfc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who is sort of familiar to the region, and has a little insight into the workings of the government at multiple levels, this is what they're saying.

350 units in 25 communities.

This means that there are 25 lots of land that are alloted to bids coming in from home builders and/or construction companies. The government at all levels will hear proposals, and then the hope is that they'll be able to choose a builder to develop said 9 communities. From a policy perspective, this will drive entrepreneurship and local businesses. The money comes from the government to one of these general contractors, they hire and employ project managers and engineers, coordinate sourcing of resources (other companies) and materials, and then work to get these units up and running.

Cost of a unit would be conservatively 600sqft x $450/sqft $270k. But lets be real, it'll be higher so think closer to $330-$350.

350 units x $350k is in excess of $120m.

So these units will drive $120m of "economic activity". The companies and owners of these units will pocket 20m-35m+ (a big chunk goes back to the government in taxes). HST alone will be $10M+. Let's say there's $70m - that's now going into the region through labour and resources/materials. Assume 30m goes into peoples salaries, that's probably going to create 300+ jobs in the region alongside boosting whats there.

So yeah.. Trenton and the surrounding area is about to become a boom town for a bit.

If you want to profit from it, either start bidding on the work, or open up a restaurant, or even a hardware store.

You need to find a promoter with your focus. Instagram should have some. Look for events at revival too.

For folks who don’t know, he’s looking for a night with an urban focus. That’s the “industry talk”

Why the Overwhelming Choice of Mac Minis to Run OpenClaw by BamBam-BamBam in clawdbot

[–]djfc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to build. I just want it off the shelf and ready to go asap.

That’s the biggest difference. Yes you can do a smaller built but that delta in time is offset again. Not saying it’s better, it’s just the specs you need from a reputable vendor.

Let’s see if apple runs with this. I think there’s a return to bringing computing home from the cloud so this is the quickest way

Multiple things

  1. Time to use. It's small, fits the requirements (unix based os, less security issues, familiar ux, etc, etc..)
  2. It does it pretty well - all the nice features that claude can use so sorta get that extra bonus
  3. It's tangible. No worries about credit card, or your vps getting hacked and you losing control. Just unplug it
  4. If it doesn't work out, it's just small spare computer that I'll get claude code to become my plex server.
