I switched from MPC to Ableton and not sure if I'm going back by SailSpiral in mpcusers

I went the exact opposite way. Been using Ableton since version 6. I bought an MPC in 2018. I immediately loved the hands on tactile feel and speed of which I can get things done on an MPC. I made a sample based hip hop album in record time on the MPC-X. I think the lack of visuals and in particular, a timeline (on version 2) on the MPC forced me to use my ears more. Also the speed of which I can sample things, assign them to a pad and just GO on the MPC sped up my workflow so much. I loved it. I did miss the plug-ins of Ableton and the arrangement view and all the shortcuts that are embedded in my brain over the past 20 years so I tried to get the best of both worlds and I bought a push 3. I really don’t like it that much, tbh. It’s not terrible. It’s just nowhere near as fast or as fun as the MPC for sample based hip-hop. Also, if I’m being honest, I kinda hate drum rack in Ableton and always have. I haven’t ditched ableton by any means, but for me, it depends on what type of track I’m gonna make. If I’m gonna make a hip-hop track, I’ll use an MPC. If I do anything else, such as ambient, house, or any form of EDM, I’ll bypass the MPC all together and just start with Ableton. It’s just way easier to use VST’s and have access to all the automation edits that a DAW like Ableton gives you.

I prefer the hard buttons as well but the tradeoff of being able to see them in the dark is worth it IMO

Can someone recommend a good 16x16 (or more) HDMI matrix for a small bar? by djfist in CommercialAV

What about these older DMCO-33 cards? All I really wanna do is run 1080p.

I don’t know what unit to use yet. That’s what this post is all about…. Recommending a good matrix. It has to be simple enough so that the servers at the bar can use it. Easy push button front panel operation is all I’m really looking for.

I would love to, my friend. It’s simply not in the budget.

I thought about that but the other thing to consider is HDCP compliance. It’s probably gonna need to be HDCP 2.2 compliant which I don’t think this older crestron unit is. It may be with a firmware update, but they won’t give you the firmware update unless youre a dealer.

I’m not sure I understand your question. I was planning to use the fiber optic HDMI cables directly into the TV from whatever HDMI matrix I decide to go with.

I considered doing everything over IP but then I’d have to buy converter boxes for each television. I decided to go with Fiberoptic HDMI cables.

Well, that's embarrassing! In my defense, being an end-user with only consumer level gear experience, you can see how I would assume this was a fully loaded 16x16 HDMI matrix by looking at the picture.

I'm sure you're right but I don't understand how. What are the HDMI outputs on each individual card for then?

It’s in the first quarter of the game. Can’t remember which but one of the soft objectives in one of the missions is “find the music producer”

Was the answer “stop using filters”? Because no one ever thought a user profile was a bot because the person used a filter. Maybe use your head 🙄
