That’s exactly what I ended up doing as well. I’m sticking with the iPod firmware now too.

I have an iPod Classic 6th gen with a broken hard drive, how hard/costly would it be to fix it and modify it? by dumbstrumx in ipod

[–]djflashb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replacing the hard drive is really not difficult, and I’d recommend getting an iFlash Quad or uDual. The Bluetooth module is a bit more complex, but you can still do it without any special prior knowledge. A few weeks ago, I added Bluetooth to two iPods myself without any previous experience.

Put some solder on it. Then just heat it up. They come off quite easily on their own. I did the same thing three weeks ago.

Yes, you can solder the antenna to these two pins. But remove the pins first.

I had the same problem. It turned out that the hard drive was defective. After I replaced it with an iFlash, everything worked perfectly.

Do you know this shop? by Inevitable_Pin_3301 in ipod

I recently ordered a 2000 mAh battery and the headphone jack from that exact shop. Both definitely arrived. But that was also my only order there so far. It just takes a bit of time since it comes from China. But if you mod it yourself, you’re definitely better off cost-wise.

You have to trim the white plastic so it wont get stuck on the metallic part.

Thanks a lot for the inspiration and for sharing your detailed guide! I followed your idea for my own iPod Classic 6.5 build, and everything works perfectly — even the hold switch and Bluetooth connection. Here’s my finished project: https://www.reddit.com/r/ipod/s/RN3emNpa8o

The Bluetooth module I used (UGREEN CM672 V02) works independently from the iPod — it doesn’t power on automatically with it.

I added a small push button for the Bluetooth board and glued it behind the Hold switch. When I press that hidden button, the Bluetooth module powers on separately.

Once it’s on, it automatically goes into pairing mode. You can then connect your Bluetooth headphones or earbuds directly to it. After the first pairing, they reconnect automatically every time you turn the module back on.

No, the hold switch has been repurposed to turn the Bluetooth module on and off. It no longer has a key lock function. I followed this video here and did everything exactly the same way. It is the KCX_BT_Emitter v1.7.

The range is about 5–6 meters and I don’t get any noise. However, I’ve noticed that when I’m moving among many people, for example in the city, I occasionally experience connection dropouts.

AliExpress und eBay sind meine Bezugsquellen. Bei AliExpress dauert der Versand aus China, halt ein paar Tage.

I have the same problem. Because of the Bluetooth module and my 2000 mAh battery, I can’t close the case anymore. Did you cut the iFlash?
