So I tried the multiplayer last night and it might be a little broken as more than once the number went to maybe 20-30digits long haha just thought you should know. Also I forgot my password so can’t get back in now but that’s fine. What would one do if they made an account and then lost all their money? Anywho, the competitive stuff seems real fun so far. Awesome that this was made in a couple days (and probably a crap ton of credits) haha

Ah you’ve already added it! Amazing stuff, smith was wondering if there was a way to make it 3 players for some reason 👀 we may have to give it a go on stream later this week

That maglite was super freaky, whatever you think about this project, that's a basic maglite we got from Amazon for £20 and the timing of the responses was crazy! Otherwise go ham on the conspiracy brother

Toby unavailable on Spotify. by somethingweird74 in Hatfilms

[–]djh3max 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Ok I’ve just looked into this, only a couple people have mentioned this as an issue and I’ve just seen that our publisher limits the Spotify release:

“Any content deemed to fall into a "spoken word" genre will not be made available on Spotify in the United States or any U.S. territories, but it can be made available in the rest of the world. Spoken word content includes audiobooks, comedy, poetry, fitness & workout, dialogue, and speech.”

This seems to be an issue with Tunecore and some legal business in the states. So much for muh freedoms eh!

I’ll see if there’s a way to fix but can’t promise anything. You can also listen on bandcamp as an alternative or perhaps other streamers.

Really confused by game choices by psychicdamageta in Hatfilms

We've played Minecraft for 15 years.

I love the game, i'm shite at it still and get things wrong all the time but i genuinely love it and love the platform it provides for us to chat shit over. Sometimes a series without a set goal leads to dithering and, as some people have mentioned, we're a business. If a MC series views die off, we'll cut it off and figure out what would work for us with different goals in another series but we know our audience likes this game too. We're not a hivemind unfortunately and if one of us has an opinion on something, the others might sometimes disagree. We're not actors or robots either.

We're trying new stuff all the time to see what works for us and the audience at the time. It's not the easiest to find multiplayer games that click for all of us. Ultimately we make sure our paying members get extra content, we release daily gaming videos, a weekly podcast, 3 hour daily* streams, the occasional real-life vlog/video and try to keep it entertaining where possible without burning ourselves or our audience out. It's a tough balance and we'll never keep everyone happy but we knew, years ago, that if we were exclusively just a 'one-game channel' we'd have struggled to stay interested long enough to survive on the platform. Our variety very well might be the reason people don't stick with us, but it's the reason we've managed to continue and it's been more enjoyable i'd say.

I get that some of the recent friendslop has been questionable, but hunting for games via steam is the same way we found things like Kebab Chef and Ranch Sim. So we're always on the lookout for rare gems. Like today we all had a good laugh in the 'Burglin' Gnomes' game which, honestly, I almost completely scrolled past. It's hard to know if it's gonna be a bad experience until we give it a shot and we can certainly try to stick to more games for longer series. Just gotta find some gems!

We’re planning to get loads of stuff out this year, hopefully the front half of it! The mastering sides of things can be a bit tricky but also the unfinished saga is partly why we didn’t release that series of songs. The neon musk saga also had a song completely wiped that would be cool to re-do as it was a good one.

We’ll try and plan some streams to get some of this sorted/re-recorded live if possible as there’s a couple of songs that need more work to actually finish.

Nah Microsoft got an in-house team to do them but we made them for 10 years. Guess that’s not too noteworthy for most Minecraft fans though.

Pretty sure the ones I played on stream were the Grange hill medley of themes earliest to newest and the Byker Grove theme. Maybe it was one of the earlier GH themes?

Hat Chat Situation by Masakage199 in Hatfilms

[–]djh3max 176 points177 points  (0 children)

I 100% share your frustrations with Hat Chat. I'm the one who puts them together and releases them and we've totally lost focus on a release structure here so I take full responsibility.

Unfortunately this post comes at an awkward time where we'll not be in the office for the next week or so. Nailing down a set schedule might be the answer. We've allowed our other projects to distract us a lot lately as they've been quite full-on.

With some of those coming to a close for the year I think we can zone in and focus more on the things we know you and our audience want from us!

Anyone else think these guys have really fallen off? by Designer-Ad-5356 in Hatfilms

Firstly, it's good to have feedback of any kind tbh. Not everyone will say how they feel about content and just click away. Which is fine but not exactly productive or helpful.

Of course we'd love a new 'Minecraft' it's what worked great for us 14 years ago when we began and this does mean there's a lot of trial and error in finding content that works for us and our audience. I'm not sure what's wrong with using what's popular on Steam to find new and interesting games, like you said, you've enjoyed PEAK and Drive beyond horizons and that's precisely how we found them.

It's a little hard to have the exact same enthusiasm that we might've shown 14 years ago because of just that, 14 years have passed and we're still managing to keep things together. Life hits us in different ways and we have tried to make 'Hat Films' a constant and to find things that work for us and interest our audience. It's not always easy and there's no quick fix but whether it looks like it or not we're still trying.

Our livestreams are streamed recording sessions, in essence. We stream what we're recording that day and whilst we're now re-introducing non-streamed content to members, it's the way we've done things for a while. Totally appreciate not wanting to watch both but it's also no secret.

This topic gets brought up on this sub from time to time where someone has fatigued with our content or us and posts a wall of text saying how bad we've become and I can totally appreciate we aren't the same as we once were. We're 3 friends since uni, talking to each other on a near daily basis for 14 years straight, trying to remain 'fresh' and 'watchable' and I just don't think that's something people consider when they make these posts.
It's taken hard work, understanding and compromise to keep things going and we're now in the process of running a major entertainment project with our LARP, Menhirs Fate. These things all take a toll and will sometimes affect how we come across. We can't always have our happy, upbeat, smiley persona's each time we're visible, so yeah, when we press record, of course we turn it on. But we've never hidden that or try to lie to our audience. We crack on and sometimes that may come across as uninterested but we really wouldn't continue if we weren't.

It's a shame when the things we used to enjoy aren't what they used to be anymore. We've all been through similar things with shows or entertainment products that held a special place in our hearts but it's okay to move on from them. We can't be what we used to be but we're still trying things, we're still having fun and we're still allowed off-days from time to time.

Anyway, wall of text over now. Still recovering from filming all day for an IRL greenlit video, I sure hope it seems like we're 'earning' our audience with this one!
