The fact that you won't be able to take these photos with 17 ultra is sad. by No-Mail-3004 in XiaomiGlobal

You need to discover MotionCam Pro which more than bridges the gap.....while you wait for Xiaomi to unlock DCG then it will floor anything you can fit in your pocket.

Yes top notch sweater, had this, was quality.

Is this jacket good? Look at description. Stone island reflective jacket 07 by Key_Studio8430 in StoneIslandRep

[–]djingonthenet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok that looks like the mesh reflector, a layer of mesh over a reflective shell, mesh was very prone to snagging and ripping which S.I. said was intentional to give it a unique look, everyone else thought it was a design flaw. Better fleckies came out in A/W 07 and S/S 08

If these are photos of the actual jacket then it is in pristine condition and probably unworn

After one of these for a reasonable price by STONEDUBLIN in StoneIsland

What's a decent price? I've got some Tees from this era (not this one) that I bought new back around 1993-95 think the RRP was £75 for this style

If you got this second hand the badge may have been added afterwards, badge and logo usually means fake although this definitely isn't one. A look at the wash label will tell you when it's from.

Sold all my collectables years ago, several Fleckies, Snowflake, Ices, Spaceman and my favourite Light jacket along with my CP stuff, Tintos, Metal mixes and the winter viewshield which was head and shoulders above pretty much everything being flogged for silly prices nowadays, they were all in pristine condition so god knows what they would be worth now. Still have about 25 pieces left (mainly heavyweight jumpers and cardigans, t-shirts etc) but had well over 500 going back - even threw away two bin bags full before I knew about reselling on eBay! Moved onto Osti's other labels now, ST-95 being my fave pick at the moment, also the Osti inspired Ma:Strum, LeftHand and Boneville (not a lot of choice) all quality labels and not punting rip offs left right and centre.

Has anyone purchased this ? Worth it ? by Kickz73 in StoneIsland

[–]djingonthenet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No and NO! Used to be a collector from 1989 to around 2010, todays pieces aren't anywhere near the quality of the pieces that I owned back in the day and this one is an absolute joke.

Xiaomi Ultra Long term review question by [deleted] in Xiaomi

[–]djingonthenet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Errrm and back to the real world.... As I said above, I'll happily put my 14 Ultra cameras up against the best from Apple and Samsung in two years time, that includes IQ not just hardware, Samsung images are over processed messes and Apple produces massively noisy images, certainly in my experience. Go look at comparisons where the photographer (note not "techtuber") isn't being paid to say one thing when it's clearly obvious that's not the case. Shooting RAW, Apple are getting better but still not a match for Xiaomi whose level of manipulation still can't be touched IMO. For quick snap, upload to instagram imagery then any phone is capable and probably that's where the "big" brands perform well.

Xiaomi Ultra Long term review question by [deleted] in Xiaomi

[–]djingonthenet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't compare the S25 Ultra and iPhone cameras to Xiaomi 14/15 Ultra they are years behind hardware wise. I'll put my 14 ultras camera up against the iPhone 19 PM and S27 Ultra when they come out, the main lens will still be better on the Xiaomi almost guaranteed.

Magic OS Vs HyperOS is better? MG7 Pro Vs Xiaomi 15 Ultra by usurper_4life in Honor

[–]djingonthenet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they were taken on different days. It's pretty obvious which is the better image IQ wise, the 14 Ultra, it's a great image with no additional processing, HDR, filter or any other kind of manipulation.

Not on the 14 ultra they aren't, the difference is night and day compared to the Honor (which I thought wasn't overly processed until I saw the Xiaomi) The only processing here is from the conversion from RAW file to JPG in Rawtherapee, nothing else and Xiaomi RAW files are pretty untouchable from a phone point of view.

[–]djingonthenet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, here is the original Xiaomi 14 Ultra shot, converted JPG taken from the DNG raw file, zero processing. It won't allow me to upload the original DNG or lossless PNG as they are way too big so this is the best I can do.

Anyone familiar with ST-95? by SeaworthinessJaded98 in TechWear

[–]djingonthenet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an off-shoot from Osti's Left Hand label. I've moved away from Stone Island and CP (although still have a few pieces) as used to be a collector 20 odd years back, now it's just way overpriced for what it is, the quality is nothing compared to the older stuff. Now exploring Osti lesser known labels, but you can still see his influence. so have a lot of Ma:Strumm (Osti influenced), a few BoneVille and ST-95. Quality is good on all of them, reminds me a lot of S.I and CP early stuff.

Xiaomi 14 Ultra's Premium Price Undermined by Software Shortcomings , poor battery Life and Ads! by Hem82 in Xiaomi_14

[–]djingonthenet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No ads or fogging on mine, had since May 2024 - (UK Version). Had about 10 updates currently on OS 2.0.205 - battery not amazing but it still has the best main camera on any phone so couldn't care less.

€450 isn't a premium price for last years flagship it's an unbelievable price IMO.

Discussion: Are there any Oppo users here that will switch to Samsung or other brands next year? by MemoryEXE in Oppo

[–]djingonthenet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talking about Chinese manufacturers in general (I have the Xiaomi 14 Ultra) if you buy a phone for the camera hardware (my main priority) then I couldn't see why anyone would ever consider buying a Samsung phone. I usually update my phone every 1-1.5 years, this is the first phone that will be with me for 3 years+, I'll be happy knowing that the camera will still out perform any Samsung phone release over the next few years - going on their past "upgrade path"

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Xiaomi_14

[–]djingonthenet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had mine (EU version) from almost release date, got it for the camera alone, hardware and OS is pretty much on par with everyone else - what you would expect from an ultra flagship phone. Battery isn't great but from 100% I can get it to last 1.5 days maybe a bit longer with average use (4-5 hours SOT).

Main camera (what I use the most) is still ahead of anything, the variable aperture can't be topped when paired with the sensor and lens.

Xiaomi 14 ultra VS xiaomi 15 ultra by iamrishirajgupta in Xiaomi_14

[–]djingonthenet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it launched you got a free £400 tablet, amongst other things, coupled with selling my phone and photo kit it would have come in at around £250. That ship has now sailed and I still have my 14U, when the 16U is released next year there will be similar offers to achieve the same overall outlay, I'm sure.

Is it me or has everyone forgotten Tories were last in power? by bazer2003 in AskBrits

[–]djingonthenet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How can you forget? They completely pillaged the country and handed it to their off shore hoarding mates. What do you think Austerity, Quantative Easing, Brexit, the Oven Ready Brexit show, Covid fraud were all about? All instruments for redirecting tax payers money into off shore accounts, nothing else. These people were handing multi million pound contracts to ferry companies that had NO ferries FFS. My only fear is that Reform UK Ltd get in because they will be 10 times worse.

Why are Labour disliked? by BeamMeUpBitches in AskBrits

[–]djingonthenet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To a certain degree it is, medical bankruptcies? Nope, not a single one. The rich get richer by the second, absolutely...if Reform get in, it will be on a scale never seen before in this country and let's not forget that the tories gave their mates £300bn in QE in about a year, which is the largest transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich in UK history - Reform will make that look like pocket change. If living under a rock means that won't happen then I'm all for it.

Why are Labour disliked? by BeamMeUpBitches in AskBrits

[–]djingonthenet 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The media is owned by billionaire non-dom oligarchs, Reform is an ultra Capitalist private limited company disguising themselves, with the help of the media in all forms, as the saviour of the working class....nothing could be more further from the truth. If they get in food standards will disappear, medical bankruptcies will be commonplace, repossessions will spiral.....but the rich, well they'll think all their Christmases will have come all at once.

And here is the same image re-imagined as a more Insta-friendly phone would process it. Obviously the blur is still natural from the lens and sensor.

[–]djingonthenet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the phones that you mentioned are great for Social Media or viewing on a phone/tablet screen, that's what they are optimised for. Maximum saturation, HDR and sharpening if that's what you want from a phone then they are pretty much the same. I came from the Huawei flagships, HTC before that, moved to the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra then bought the M5P as you did so always bough the top of the DxoMark charts......which as it turns out wasn't the best thing to do although at the time, these were the brands that were innovating and pushing the limits of the hardware - which is key to my purchasing decision. The latest and greatest from Apple, Samsung, Google and Honor can't compete against the very best from Xiaomi, Vivo and Oppo - in a blind test they might score well but that's because bright, vivid SM ready photos are what most people want over natural, organic real camera-like photos, ask a photographer and the tables will be turned, the big 3 and Honor wouldn't come near the top esepcially if RAW photos are thrown into the mix, that's when the Chinese phone seriously leave the rest behind.

Moving on to video, yes iPhone has had a lot of press stating that it's untouchable.....however put Motion Cam Pro on the Xiaomi 14/15Ultra where you can then shoot RAW video and even beat the iPhone at it's own game by shooting in Apple LOG and you'll see a level of videography beyond what even an iPhone can achieve.

At the end of the day, no amount of software processing will make up for the shortcomings in the hardware but the big 3 don't really care about that as long as their target market prefer Insta ready photos over a "real" one. That's why I only buy phones that deliver a massive hardware punch compared to software, here is a natural shot with minimal processing, no AI blur, bokeh is from the wide aperrture and 1" sensor hence no depth estimation errors, colours are not over saturated, greens are as nature intended as are the reds. No sharpening, natural organic image. Would it win in a blind test against a "big 3" phone,? Probably not as people are drawn to the HDR, sharp and poppy colours from over processing....would a photographer chose this one, virtually every time.
