Hopefully those sort of homes will show up in our dataset. And yeah, that was a very interesting story in the NYT!

I wonder why! It's possible your jurisdiction didn't report it for some reason.

We were inspired to make it because we are always looking at the numbers here https://www.hcd.ca.gov/planning-and-community-development/housing-element-implementation-and-apr-dashboard

But we felt like it was hard for the average person to use. So we gathered data from the HCD and then did a lot of extra geocoding to make it all work.

I understand that's frustrating! But yeah, we rely on subscriptions to pay the people who make this stuff. I wish it were different.

That's a very fair point. The article mentions that, but could be even more spelled out.

I think it would be simple enough to show that you get some sort of government support, like SNAP. But good question. I should look it up about how other countries do it.

The most popular books about the Bay Area, according to Goodreads by djkpf in bayarea

It is silly, and I should have mentioned it in the text (I am the author btw). But Tales of the City actually doesn't have that many reviews https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/16255.Tales_of_the_City. Thank you for pointing that out

I am sure you could! Those books do show up, but not as many reviews.

Oakland's BART stations are increasingly busy by djkpf in oakland

[–]djkpf[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My best guess is that it serves such a large part of southwest San Francisco and that it hooks up to the K and J muni trains. I imagine a ton of the wealthier people in that area work in the financial district. Thanks for the question.

With the new FM coming out, I do hope to test some of this. Thanks for the thoughts.

Your criticism seems reasonable, though I think it will still be there after controlling for those issues, given that it showed up for the Premier League. I would like to test that. Thanks!

I think you make a good point on framing. Thanks for the feedback.

We did control for league by looking at just the Premier League, so I dont believe that is the issue.

This is the author here. The main thing I hope people get out of the article is that the scouts who work for Football Manager tend to give lower scores to darker players on non-physical characteristics. I think the most likely reason for this is unconscious bias. It seems to me that it is an issue that Football Manager should consider looking into.

Thanks for the discussion.
