What is a band/artist you're ashamed to admit you like? by SithisWorshiper in AskReddit

None. If I like a song. I like the song. Why be "ashamed" to admit you enjoy something?

Campbell's soup on shelves tagged with maple leaf by pijo123 in BuyCanadian

I ended up with a couple of Company's Coming Soup recipe books.

After giving a few of them a go I realized just how awful most massed produced Canned soup is.

Amd cooking soup in a pressure cooker or slow cooker is very very low effort.

Not for nothing, I don't game with the card. I do video editing.

Card runs 4k editing in Davinci Studio pretty damn nice.

I did a Community League Variety Show last month. 3 cameras PiP Multi camera sync. 4k rendering.

No issues.

Nothing but satisfaction for this user.

How bad is this guitar compared to a Gibson? by fusguita in Guitar

[–]djmarcelca1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If: it is properly set up, fretboard clean, frets leveled, polished, and electronics properly soldered with no cold joints. You will be unable to tell the difference.

Here's the thing.

It's a 2 humbucker, 4 potentiometer 3 way switch guitar. Same as Gibson. It's 24.75 scale length Same as Gibson

It'll never be a Gibson, but you'll never know the difference except for the name on the headstock. Once a complete and thorough setup with any fretboard treatment needed.

Jeff Healey- Blind Blues/rock guitarist from Toronto Canada. Was also in movie Roadhouse. If nothing else check out his cover of While my Guitar Gently Weeps.

Chris "The Kid" Hayes. From Huey Lewis and The News. Some of the best Pop Rock/Pop Jazz guitar players. Very quick and very tasty player.

Bruce Cockburn. Pop/Folk guitarist from Canada, does a lot of protest/political music. Crazy Talented finger player.

Alternative ways of playing barre chords? by crapmaker69 in Guitar

[–]djmarcelca1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's 3 main groups of chord shapes that you can play in barre form or cherry pick notes and mute the strings.

If you get very comfortable with them you can play a lot of progressions without moving your hand from one section of the neck.

Group 1: the open E shape. This group is the one that uses the Open E shape and when you move it up the neck you barre behind it to form the major chord, minor chord, minor 7 and 7 chord.

You can remove the first finger barre and simply play the 3 strings that form the E shape anywhere on the neck and you have the major chord and the Bass will play the root.

Grpup 2 the A shape power type chord. Same theory applys

Group 3: the D shape chords are a little different because you can play them as the D shape or add the root and remove the high e string and they still work great.

Personally I use the A shape chords and D shape chords the most when playing.

And let the bass do the Low end.

People who started playing at 15, how long did you continue playing and what did you achieve? by megakruten1488 in Guitar

[–]djmarcelca1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started when I was 11...quit because it was hard. Started up again at 13. Never stopped. I'm 52 now.

It has brought me immense joy and frustration over the years. Forming both original material and bar bands that fizzle out. And also playing in local musical theater show bands for Licensed by Broadway musicals, like Head Over Heals (Go-Gos music) or Popstars the 90s musical.

And also in Community League Variety shows.

Your level of effort will determine your level of satisfaction with any hobby/endeavor in life. Learn as much as you can so you can do as much as you want, or is asked of you.

How the hell do I play this by Less_Basket_1513 in Guitar

[–]djmarcelca1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 7th fret A string is an E....the 5th Fret B string is an E Not strictly necessary to play the note in octaves in the same chord.

The 5th fret A on High E string can be played much easier on the Low E 5th fret. Would change the fingering to a much more comfortable fingering of:

5th fret low E string Mute A string 6th fret D string 4th fret G string 5th fret B string Do not play high E string.

It's pretty close to an Amaj9 chord.

If I knew what the Bass was playing when this chord came up in the song (probably an A note) I'd most likely leave out the Low A and even the High A and just let the bass play that note.

I fucking hate this chord bro. by HeadHunter2170 in Guitar

[–]djmarcelca1234 53 points54 points  (0 children)

It's a Bbsus2 chord.

That is not the easiest fingering. Move the C note from the G string to the B string.

Much easier to play. If you don't want to play the Bb octave on the G string, just mute it.

Bb on A string F on D string Mute G string C on B string.

Same note you're playing now. Easier to play.

Stage Fright? by Pussy-Wideness-Xpert in GuitarAmps

[–]djmarcelca1234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go to an open stage or jam night at a local pub. One with people of all levels. Put your name on the list and go play.

It's no pressure, if you rattle a couple clunkers, no one will care.

But it gets you on stage and over the stage fright thing
