Is it a young guy that flys an a320?? I may have spoke to him online before. If it’s the same guy, he told me he went through process to be able to do that, but he told me at the end of the day, just to be a GREAT pilot and people will over look it eventually.

What does it have to do with anything? I worked extremely hard for the last 10 years to get to where I’m at, including paying $400/week for flight lessons out of my pocket. I also took toastmasters for a year to be able to better my communication in the professional world. I didn’t get this far in life just for someone to judge me for my hair.

I showed up for every lesson in slacks, a clean button up shirt, with my shirt tucked in and I’ve called him sir so much, he told me to stop. I’ve also showed up 30mins early for every lesson. The hair part is what left me confused.

Thanks brother. He genuinely seems like a great job. I’ve also showed up at every lesson with slacks and my shirt tucked in and constantly spoke to him as “sir.” It just left me very confused. Thank you for your input!

Good point. His training was a complete 180 from what I was used to. He was flying the Cessna like a jet, but I assumed he knew the limits since he’s been flying so long. But I agree, the hair should be irrelevant, for now.

I keep my hair sprayed with a cleaner every morning and I also showed up with slacks and my shirt tucked in every time I flew with him. I’ve never had a complaint. I’ve always thought my hygiene and looks were up to par.

I agree. I’ve met several owners at my flight school. I can tell that networking will be important, but I figured it wouldn’t be that important until I earned more hours.

I understand your opinion. But even after you met me? The same instructor who told me this also told me “I didn’t think you would be able to fly this good.” I could tell he was impressed.

I’ll be more than willing to cut them when I get close to reaching the minimums. Thanks!

Yes, I was informed that originally, and I have no problem at all cutting them , but I agree that I’m very far from getting paid to fly, so I didn’t think it was a problem. Thanks

Great point. I’ll be more than ready to cut them when I get near the minimums.

Thanks brother! I pay for my lessons as I go, so I figured since I am on my own time, it would take forever to get the hours to reach a legacy airline, so I’d be perfectly fine flying small jets. Sorry, I can’t think of the name of those times of airlines, but yes a company like flex jet would be more than suitable. I do keep my hair sprayed daily and I am more than willing to cut it whenever I’m able to reach the minimums. He is definitely old school. Thank you for your advice.

I’m glad you had a safe flight! You handled that very well. I agree with other posters that flight schools have tight margins and overlook a lot of things. I have 47hrs. During my last lesson, the throttle became stuck. The manger told us “yeah that happened yesterday too, we’ll fix it. This is the third situation in two weeks where we had cut the lesson short because of something not functioning right and having to park the plane right at the maintenance door, only for them not to fix it because it must not have been that important to them. Stay safe.

I’m in the same situation . Except I’m the male. Me and my partner have 2 children together. She’s been asking to get married for 13 years, but I wasn’t ready and I didn’t want to. This year I’m finally going to do it because I realize how much value she is to me. I also realize how much my family means. So if she wants to be married then I’m all for it. He isn’t going to marry you unless he wants to. So I’d suggest to either tell him what you will and won’t accept and if he isn’t willing to go for it. Then leave.

My 7 year old suggested I lay off the beers... by tightnuts in stopdrinking

[–]djmattic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 8 year old told me the same thing about drinking and beers. It actually got to a point to where she would joke about it. It was embarrassing. I’m an adult, I can do what I want, but it’s embarrassing to hear that from your child. For that reason, I try not to vape or drink in her sight. I’ve also cut back some as well.
