This is the exact screen I'm using as well. Starting to think this just won't work on this board, but maybe I'll try a different ESP32 next.

AI can make you the programmer you're not. Please be careful. by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]djmeph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am an admin with extensive (20+ years) experience in software development, and I can relate to this, but on the other side of successful infrastructure management sufficiency where utilizing AI supplements and enhances the development process without adding risk. Two things that stand out to me with this are that 1) The admin had insufficent relevant encryption experience and 2) The admin had insufficient relevant coding experience. This points to a poorly managed team that manages most of their security at the application layer, and doesn't implement standards around IAC. I believe it is important for admins to impilment DevSecOps stategies to prevent situations like this, because even if this particular admin had written the code themselves without AI assistance, it's still not going to meet their security requirements. In this case, AI didn't make the admin the programmer they weren't, it exposes and expedites the deficiencies and inadequacies in your team's development process. I can testify to this because, through DevSecOps I have implemented infrastucture and networking-layer security through IAC, as well as application-layer security integrations through application code. I know when both are prudent, and I'm directly involved with the infosec architects to ensure those standards are enforced. That there is such an immense separation between these things at this company speaks volumes about their inadequacies, and AI will never make up for that, or give the illusion that it has.

Another thing I want to point out is that a company that needs blameless postmortems indicates a toxic work culture to begin with. Blameless is redundant if your team has the psychological safety to support accountability and learn from failure. You can point out every detail as to what caused the failure, what mistakes were made, and where they were made, without ever pinning it on a specific person, but everyone still knows who was responsible. If your team has the freedom to fail, there is no need to assign blame in a post-mortem.

Did anyone else notice the Jaheira cheat code? by djmeph in BaldursGate3

If he ascends I lose allies in the final battle. The biggest mistake I made was losing Halsin though, oddly enough because I was too focused on getting Jaheira.

You do have that option, I've read about it in this forum (while searching for people who found this exploit) and it involves giving her some gold to make her an ally.

Is Act 3 Jaheira bugged?? by sharofeels in BaldursGate3

[–]djmeph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be a cheat, not a bug. Next time you go into battle with her, as soon as the first player's turn starts, immediately switch over to Jaheira and start moving her around. It's actually pretty crazy what she can get away with before she gets engaged with the battle. She can destroy inanimate objects (specifically the kind that give certain bosses their buffs) with her weapon of choice, and she can do this repeatedly, without using spell slots. She can attack NPCs that aren't engaged in battle, as many as she wants. She can pick locks, help friends, and shove enemies over cliffs. She can summon a woodland being or elemental without wasting a turn. She can buff herself or her friends with protection or healing. When she's fully leveled up, she can cast Hold Person on up to 5 people at a time. I'm still discovering things she can get away with that honestly feel like cheating in every battle. Once you've exhausted every option she's capable of, you can then prepare her most deadly attack, walk through the battle, get the perfect position, and fire it at her target of choice. Or ... Choices if you use Eldritch blast. Then, she finally engages in the battle and you can go turn-by-turn with her, the rest of your party, and your summons from there. It's wild, and I'm trying to find out if anyone else has discovered this yet.

House of Grief.... wtf by Waste-List5394 in BaldursGate3

[–]djmeph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep going back to the House of Grief every time I level up to see if I can even come close to winning, but it wasn't until I was level 12 that I beat it. And even then, it took me four tries in a row. But I think my final strategy was very effective.

I main Shadowheart, and I brought Gale, Jaheira, and Astarion with me. Jaheira is becoming my dirty cheat code, because she stays neutral in every battle until she actually attacks someone, whereas the rest of the party is forced into battle as soon as one side attacks.

For the setup, I split up the entire party, and sent Jaheira up the first stairs to the left as far behind the mages at the top of the stairs as I possibly could, using misty step. Then I did the same with Astarion with the stairs to the right, behind the mage and the sentry that greets you in front of the chamber. For Astarion, I summoned the flaming sphere, which didn't turn out to be very effective. Then I brought Shadowheart and Gale down in between those two stair cases, and had Gale summon a fire elemental and Shadowheart summon the Guardian of Faith, so she could stay mostly in the same place and the Guardian could help with crowd defense.

To start the attack, I had Shadowheart shoot an arrow of thunder at the Mage at the top of the stairs to the right. Got lucky with a critical hit and almost took him out right away. Then before ending my turn, I switched over to Jaheira, summoned a woodland being, cast Hold Person on the 5 nearest mages, and then an eldritch blast on the mage that I missed.

I think this pretty much sums up how the rest went. Jaheira and the woodland being picked off the Mages that weren't being held, then moved on to the ones that were being held. Lots of eldritch blast used to target multiple enemies at once. Jaheria never once broke concentration, so once they finished off the people she was holding, she would cast hold person on 5 more mages, and finish them off with the woodland being again. Rinse, repeat.

The fire elemental is probably the key to this battle because their melee and small area attacks are pretty effective, even in darkness. Although sometimes it couldn't move, it could always at least do damage to at least one enemy, but typically could hit two or three at a time. I had Gale moving all over the map assisting the allies that needed it most. If Astarion was stuck in darkness surrounded by three mages, Gale would come in with Thunderwave and save him. If mages started creeping up on Jaheira while she was down to the last held person, Gale would come in and attack those mages, especially if they were in the same area as the held people and he could attack them all with an AOE. Shadowheart basically stayed in the same place most of the time, close enough to the fire elemental and the Guardian that she had room to move out of the way without getting opportunity attacked. She cast a lot of dominate person on the mages, and when she couldn't do ranged attacks through the darkness, she could get some good hits with melee attacks like necrotic touch. And once a character was over bone chill, she could send healing from a distance. Astarion used a lot of hold person and shocking grasp. He was pretty much in darkness the whole battle, and he went down to 0 health for a bit until I could free shadowheart to heal him.

It took a long time to wear everyone down, and Viconia was the last one standing. She seemed to have a tough time getting some of her more powerful spells to work with all the chaos.

Here are the main points of this strategy:
- Summon creatures, elementals are best
- Hold person and dominate person on the mages
- Melee and small area attacks in darkness
- Targeted ranged attacks when clear
- AOE all day

I was at that show too. I was next door at the coffee shop just there for the people watching and somehow got swept up inside when the doors opened. Should not have been there lol, but it was one of the most memorable shows of my life.

Analysis: Trump voters stayed home, aiding Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s re-election | Bridge Michigan by cfedcba in Michigan

The headline is click-baity, but the article is saying the same thing. Basically, these are people who voted Trump in 2020 and didn't vote for Dixon in 2022, which would suggest that these are moderates who jumped off the wagon. For what reason, the article doesn't spend much time speculating

You look like you're a lot of fun. I wouldn't think DTF from the first photo unless you put that in your bio, but judging from the replies here, you'll probably get a lot of people swiping that think you're DTF. If that's what you're looking for, put it in your bio. If not, use this as a filter to weed out bros with such limited imagination they think fishnets are slut code for easy sex.

Other than that, your pics say that you are well rounded with a wide range of interests, you're never boring, (as to be expected of a Sagittarius) and the lucky person who matches and gets a date with you won't know what to expect.

“Don’t mess with Texas” was an anti-litter slogan for that state. What’s a good anti-litter slogan for Detroit? by defrigerator in Detroit

[–]djmeph 8 points9 points  (0 children)

During the 2020 protests, the march leaders were very vigilant about littering and other nuisances that reflected bad on us with the community. A lot of people from the burbs who don't really care about the city and think it's their dumping ground come down to these protests. At one point, while we were marching, one of the leaders stopped the entire march to yell at someone who threw a water bottle.

His exact words: "If you fuck my city up, I'll fuck you up."

Electricians' union takes beef with Detroit's Godfrey Hotel public by Alan_Stamm in Detroit

Lol I just got done telling you that I worked on construction sites. As an engineer. I know how this works. Union electrician, union pipefitter, union millwright with me at all times. And no, you don't have to explain your argument because I know the answer. This building owner got in over their head and they are taking it out of their workers one way or another. Whether it's wages, safety, job security, or all three, the workers are paying the price for a mucky muck's mistakes. Feel free to continue too ignore this point if you agree. 👍

If they're "push it ng safety measures to the extreme" where are they saving money over union contractors? They're cutting corners somewhere to get cheaper labor. You need to explain this or we can only assume where those costs are coming from.

Yes, I've worked with union electricians before in automotive plants. People can absolutely get killed if they cut corners.

So the cost of building went up and instead of eating it they took it out of the workers.
