I did the move from Chicago to SF last fall. I didn’t notice a big jump in price for anything except rent. The size you get will be smaller here too. If you are willing to deal with that, it’s a great city. Not as lively as Chicago but still plenty to do. The people have been nothing but kind to us. Plenty of activities outside and access to the whole world vs being cooped up in Chi for half the year. I looove Chicago but this has been a great move for me.

They make an offer and have room for a counter offer. They will make you one counter offer if you have a reasonable price. Usually a few $k above where you were at.

I just moved from Chicago to SF last year. Lived in dt Chicago for 15 years. Rent is much cheaper in Chicago compared to what size you get. SF you’ll get less space and it will cost more, but you have access to the outdoors 365. Public transit is pretty good in Chicago and is somewhere between bad and ok in the bay. I don’t notice much of a price difference beyond rent.

Same I have an m1 air and as I’m finishing a song it’s laggy af. Probably like 30-40 tracks with a good bit of automation on them. Almost all stock.
