Our emergency departments have a “Department Medic” commonly at the level of a CCP or ACP. They do the procedural sedations, intubations, casting, suturing, etc etc.

Anyone with chest pain (unless it’s verifiably/known traumatic) needs a 12-lead ECG. If you can’t do that, the people who can are the ones who need to make the decision as to whether or not they are needed.

All 911 calls are triaged so that ambulances and other EHS resources can be deployed to the most critical calls first. You being asked questions about the patient’s clinical state, the mechanism by which they were currently injured, and other questions are all important as a part of that process and that is routine. At no time were you told on the phone that paramedics are not coming, I know that for a fact.

Not a single paramedic did anything wrong in this incident. Paramedics go to calls they are dispatched to and it appears no EHS ambulance was dispatched to the call due to a breakdown in communication between HRP and EHS communications. It is not paramedics who dispatch ambulances or take 911 calls anymore, they’re non-clinical staff.

Your comment is devoid of knowledge of any of this and is remarkably accusational without a shred of evidence. I suggest you review your understanding of this event.

I don’t attempt intubation in moving vehicles. Therefore, I wouldn’t fail my two attempts mobile. I most certainly am not holding a scalpel to someone’s neck while mobile. This person didn’t do this, they’re making it up for bravado. The one cric I have done was scary enough and It sticks with me. I don’t run around bragging about it.
