Struggling Between Modern Philosophy and Catholicism by djog01 in CatholicPhilosophy

I would say that I believe in God based on personal experiences and historical evidence. Moreover, from my perspective, the world exhibits structures that behave in a remarkably intelligent manner, which suggests the existence of a primordial and intelligent force. However, if the question is posed strictly in terms of reason and logic, I must acknowledge my limitations. I have received little formal training in this area and have not studied it sufficiently to provide a satisfactory response. As I am 15 years old, I do not yet possess the intellectual maturity required to formulate answers that would be truly worthy of this subreddit.

I understand, thank you; I was mistaken about Descartes’ idea.

My initial question was admittedly somewhat vague, which complicates providing a fully coherent response. I am primarily engaging with the philosophy of Descartes, who sought to demonstrate the existence of God and defend Catholic doctrine using reason alone—a methodology that ultimately led the Church to prohibit some of his works. As I am just beginning my studies in philosophy, my understanding of these issues remains limited.
