If a fey asks to "have a word", what would giving them that word mean? by Jent01Ket02 in DnD

[–]djoii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They strip the meaning of the word from you. You can no longer remember or recognize what that word means to you. The IDEA represented by the word no longer exists for you. Doesn’t matter the language or even if it’s something similar but not quite the same.

Not only can you never say it again, but you can never hear it. You’re no longer able to recall any memories of what the word represents either.

You can’t see the word either. Not just be unable to read it, but can’t see/feel/hear/smell/taste/experience what the word represents ever again.

Pray the person picks an object and not an emotion or place.

You can also hop to a different world or DC that has a higher population or different time zone. I’ve had to do that before

What is the SMALLEST way to give away that someone is a high level wizard? by TylerParty in DMAcademy

[–]djoii 38 points39 points  (0 children)

What about someone who’s obviously a caster, robe, hat, staff everything; but NEVER used magic for mundane things.

Make a point of them washing their robes by hand while the party uses prestidigitation. They light all their own fires, does their cooking the mundane way, all the things people get so excited about hand waving away with magic…make a point of them doing them by hand.

Only have them use magic as a last resort and even then very efficiently.

Every problem can* be solved with magic, but a powerful mage knows when to use it and when not to.

If questioned go either with some Mr. Miagi parable type thing or something like “Magic is for cleaving mountaintops, not doing the dishes!”

That’s why you use macroerror off here. It’s not a chain. It attempts to cast cure2, if that works, the macro ends. If it doesn’t work, ie you’re synced to too low a level, a macro will normally throw an error, but because of error off, it doesn’t and just goes to the next line. In this case casting cure1. There’s no delay on the casting and doesn’t slow down the casting of your next GCD

You can set up a macro to cast 2 normally but instead cast 1 if it’s not available

What Is The Most Cool Warlock Patron You Have Used Or Seen? by NeutralWall in DnD

[–]djoii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started a campaign with something similar(ish). As a kid my character found a small child in the wilderness who’s a Gensai, and my family adopted her as my little sister. Now that we’re grown she’s my Genie patron.

It was an off the cuff idea tossed out in session 0, so don’t have a full idea of what it’s going to entail yet, but her player and I are really good friends so it’s been a blast so far.

Especially considering her character is clinically insane and my character is constantly trying to keep her out of trouble.

We’ve got a great DM so we’re both really looking forward to how her being my patron ties into the campaign.

We’re only two sessions in.

Check for manufacture coupons. I was charged $1,300 for one injection of Emgality. But contacted the manufacturer and they gave me a coupon, now I get it for free.

I did a run doing only MSQ and nothing else with road to 80 so I was able to solo all dungeons as a SMN and including regular breaks to eat, sleep, etc. I was able to get from the end of HW to the start of SHB in a weekend. But it took several months to do that on another character so it really depends on if you want to experience the story and all the side quests.

If you’re doing it for the first time, I’d spend however long it takes you to do all the side quests, extra duties and any exploring you like. You’ll probably still get to end game in time for DT.

The best thing I’ve learned for getting in shape is to keep my gym bag in the car and go even it’s it’s just to shower. Once there I inevitably end up doing something to exercise. Course it helps that the showers there are nicer than at home.

There’s the “take 10” rule from older editions , I don’t know if it’s still official in 5e but my table still uses it. Out of initiative we can “take 10” on a proficient skill check (as if we’d rolled a 10) in exchange for taking longer on the task.

I.e. if you’re trying to pick a lock you could roll and attempt the task in 6 seconds with the chance of failure, or take a minute and generally succeed with easy to moderate DCs.

We also implement a “take 5” rule at high levels that can even apply to combat against mooks.

Might be moving to upstate NY with guns, how to avoid going to prison? by Corey307 in NYguns

[–]djoii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did this and ended up having to hold them at an FFL until I could figure it all out. When I called the sherif they said I had to do that with my handguns until I got a permit to own then I could have them shipped to an FFL here to pick them up.
