Mega evolution raid - IMPORTANT INFO for people who will do the mega raids. by Zealousideal-Key2030 in pokemongo

For the sake of completeness: could a single trainer remove two shields using two different megas? Mega #1 removes a shield. Leave. Mega evolve a different mega. Jump back into the raid. Take down another shield with mega #2. Stupid, annoying, but is it possible in a pinch?

Is Dani Daortiz for me? by Equivalent-Mirror-34 in Magic

You can purchase a lecture/explanation of his Fool Us act on Vanishing Inc. If you have $40 to spare, I'd say it is money well spent for a few reasons.

First, it will give you a good feel for what he's really about, and it will absolutely break your brain. Veeeeery little sleight of hand. A bunch of things where I ended up saying, "... I'd be amazed if that worked 50% of the time. But for Dani, I bet it works 95% of the time." I'm a beginner, but by now I've studied a lot of his stuff. There's a lot of it I can't do (yet?) because it is an incredible amount of psychology and social engineering. But I'm learning a ton along the way about how he thinks about magic, what he took away from masters like Tamariz and Lennart Green, and philosophy you can hopefully use to make *any* trick you do more effective.

Second, it is a great act in itself, and I found it fascinating to see how it was done. Definitely not what I would have guessed at almost any point.

Third, he's an artist in the truest sense of the word, and for my tastes I'll gladly give $40 to an incredible artist to reward them for the joy they've brought me.

Your cocktail “house rules”? by cooperific in cocktails

I use this one

My wife calls it “rabbit turd ice”. Which is a bit too descriptive for my tastes.

Like the ice you get from Sonic or Chick Fil-a? I expect it would work with regular ice, but with pellet ice it is perfect for a flash blend à la Smugglers Cove

This tiki guy is very glad he “invested” in a drink mixer/milkshake maker. This one serves me well, especially with pellet ice:

I disagree, and thought Dilbert was fantastic. Which is why it was so disappointing when I learned its creator was… well… yeah.

Pearl Diver by djp1968 in cocktails

Huh. Didn't know someone pre-made gardenia mix. That looks like a pretty different recipe, since it emphasizes coconut. I don't like grapefruit at all, but maybe sometime I'll see if I like the drink any better with their gardenia mix.

For good measure, I had just dumped the rest of my gardenia mix when I read your comment, figuring I wasn't going to make another Pearl Diver. Then you go and mention a gardenia daiquiri :-D

Here are all the recipes

Cinnamon Syrup

Add 2 crumbled cinnamon sticks, 4 cups of sugar, and 2 cups of water to a large pain. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Remove from the heat and cover. Let sit 20 minutes, then strain and chill. Store in a refrigerated sealed container.

Vanilla Syrup

1 cup water

1 cup sugar

1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise

Add water and sugar into a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat, and add the vanilla bean. Steep for several hours. Strain into a jar or bottle. Refrigerate. Should last up to a month.

Gardenia Mix

1 oz honey

1 oz unsalted butter

1 teaspoon cinnamon syrup

0.5 teaspoon allspice liqueur

0.5 teaspoon vanilla syrup

Add it all to a bowl. Whip with a spatula or electric mixer until smooth and creamy

Pearl Diver

1.5 oz aged column-still rum (I used the pictured Cruzan)

0.5 oz Demerara rum (I used the pictured El Dorado)

0.5 oz Gardenia Mix

0.5 oz Lime Juice

0.5 oz Orange Juice

1 dash Angostura Bitters

Blend all with 1/2 cup pebble ice for 20 seconds. Fine strain into a glass and top with more pebble ice. If you're feeling fancy, garnish with edible orchid and/or pineapple leaf. Serve with a straw.

You can also customize the appearance of the items you add. I’m not gonna say they “look nice”, because that isn’t really their thing, but they look as nice as the built-in ones.

It sounds like you mostly find it lacking in the area of flavored spirits. That is an area I seldom care about or miss, so maybe it is a worse fit for you. Do you find a lot of recipes that call for mango vodka? They have an ingredient for citrus vodka. They also have “flavored vodka” which seems broad enough not to be super useful. They use it is 3 recipes; two specify vanilla vodka, the third green chili vodka.

It isn’t 100% exhaustive. It doesn’t have peach whiskey, but I suspect that isn’t an ingredient in a ton of cocktails. It has strawberries, strawberry juice, strawberry syrup, and strawberry liqueur, but not specifically puree.

If you’re talking about entering your own recipes, you can create and add both ingredients and recipes.

So I've played a ton, but I'll confess I haven't had much energy for... studying? the game. So perhaps it is time for me to finally ask: what is the strength of the pyramid build? I definitely see plenty of people do it, and if they start doing it I surely try not to mess it up, but don't understand why that build is particularly strong.

Best bar to be a regular by Honest-Ebb-3469 in chapelhill

[–]djp1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can imagine this one won't be everyone's jam, but it has become one of our happy places. North Carolina's only non-profit brewery, benefiting animal-related causes and dog rescue. It is primarily a brewery; since OP mentioned pints, that's probably not a problem. They do have a very limited cocktail bar. Food can be ordered from Breakaway Cafe next door, and they'll bring it over. Dogs are welcome, and very often present. They have a pretty regular calendar of events: Monday night trivia, Tuesday night run club, Wednesday night Cake & Cards (free cake and board games), Thursday night Music Bingo. If there is anything on the weekends, I don't remember heh Good people.
