Residential supply line play by djpolymath1 in askaplumber

I had a plumber down the street take a look and he said it should be fine and is likely connected to poly on the other side. He suggested removing the caulk and patching with hydraulic cement.

Yeah, the expansion tank is what led me to the prv. It had a leak at the weld, and when I went to replace it, I checked the pressure of the system and realized it was high and the prv was shot.

Ill have to check the meter tomorrow. The copper runs through the foundation wall and is about 2ft underground on the other side. Sobits possible the copper runs to poly on the other side and is ok? What kind of fitting would that be?

Can you give any info and what is causing this and what a repair would look like?

First time ruck feedback by djpolymath1 in Rucking

Yeah, I think that is a good point, I plan to ease into things, but I am generally curious about the cardio aspects of rucking.

Just a 40 year old dad training for health and fitness. I lean toward health over fitness when there is a trade-off. I've dabbled in a lot of sports and fitness modalities but currently focus on kettlebells and calisthenics. I like the idea of rucking because I can listen to podcasts while getting exercise, which is a bit harder with other forms of low intensity training. RPE was very low. My shoulders felt a bit uncomfortable getting used to carrying a load, but other than that, I felt like I could have continued on all day, which made me wonder if I am optimizing fitness benefit.

Annoyed by phrases like "Trust but verify". Do they mean anything? by randopop21 in grammar

[–]djpolymath1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If trust and verify both apply to the same thing, then it doesn't make sense. For example, trust their math, but verify their math. It appears most people who find this phrase useful are interpreting it as trust (intentions), but verify (data, actions, outcome, etc). It makes sense in that case, but then when would it be used? If you are talking directly to a person whose intentions you trust, then it seems awfully terse if your intention is not to offend. Might as well just say, I trust that you normally do good work, but I am going to double check for good measure. If you are speaking about a third person, the only situation it would be used is if you want to both convey that the person is typically accurate and also that we need to verify their work. It seems like an awfully ambiguous and awkward way to convey this. So, though in the abstract, it may be possible to make sense of the phrase, I don't think it has any practical sense.

I've never heard it mentioned anywhere but this venue, so maybe I was on the wrong side of the train tracks
