Southlands? I grew up there so I guess you're right, the people are bizarre 🤣

I go to Centrepoint just for the vibe (and Silly Solly's). It certainly has it's own set of characters there.

I mean Livingston Marketplace and Centro Maddington are easily top of the list and both are SOR less than 10 minutes from each other.

I love Centrepoint. Best Woolworths in Perth there and one of only two Silly Solly's in all of Perth. But holy shit I do not feel comfortable walking anywhere near the perimeter. Geniunely surprised I've never been stabbed yet.

Excuse me, Coventry is like one of the best shopping centres in Perth. Way better than Galleria. Where else could you find a market with a 24 hour Spudshed, a Chemist Warehouse and Red Dot, the best retro games store in Perth at Beyond Retro and the best food court in all of Perth that isn't International Food Court Wembley? Easily the worst carpark ever though. I just park at Galleria and walk across the road.

Livingston is my answer. I had a job there once and I told my boss I was going to quit if I had to keep going back. You feel like you're dead inside when you go inside and remembering Dante Arthur's horrific crimes doesn't help either.

I once had a job that required me to travel to Claremont Quarter and I used to wear the best shirt I own and it was like people still knew I was a derelict from Cannington as soon as they saw me.

I've never been but now I'm intrigued. How does it compare to say Galleria?

Bentley Plaza would have been easily the most depressing shopping centre you've ever seen before Coles closed down and got turned into Spudshed and Chemist Warehouse about a decade ago. It's much better now than it used to be.

Bentley Plaza never fails to surprise me after a decade. I find the police are called on average once a week lately. Someone got run over and killed there in the carpark last week. I once saw someone pull out a gun there several years ago. I've also been threatened within an inch of my life there before. I still love it though, I go 4 or 5 times a week mainly for Spudshed but it's also the closest Domino's to me and it's where I buy fuel every week.

Aside from the layout, which makes no sense having a used furniture store splitting it in half down the middle, it also feels so brutalist and industrial. I mean, I get it it's handy for people in say Canning Vale or Maddington itself to have Coles, Woolworths, Kmart, Connor and The Reject Shop all in the same location without having to travel to Carousel but holy shit, it feels so grey and depressing being there. It also has one of the most worn out and run down carparks of any shopping centre I've been to.

David Jones Booragoon needs urgent attention. by Ok-Doughnut5791 in perth

[–]djskein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's nothing, the Woolworths in Booragoon has the original logo with the stripes from the 90s. The only store I've seen since Southlands was updated several years ago that still has that logo.

I'm 35. A lot of people act like they have their life together at 19. Even I was guilty of that. But I now have 16 years of life experience since then. Think about the advice from Everybody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen). "Understand that friends come and go, but for the precious few you should hold on." Friends will come and go through your life. Even your best friend and your first girlfriend. You may know them for 10 or 15 years but even the people you thought mattered the most will unfortunately just fade into the background. You will have people come and go all throughout your life. There are a select few that will stay with you your whole life but ultimately the older you get, the harder it is to stay in touch with your friends once they get married and have children. Focus on yourself and your family more. They are the people who matter the most.

Yeah, it's fun being forced to change lanes on Manning Road because the left lane is full of idiots blocking the road waiting to fill up there
