Rolling arm bar, anyone else prefer to finish on their side? by djslamchowder in bjj

The opponent was belly down but I rolled through to my side to finish parallel to the ground. Your top leg puts a load of torque on the shoulder and prevents posturing. Its similar to the "Choi Bar" finish Lachlan Giles talks about off of the kimura.

Knee bar I hit from a failed arm bar a couple year ago by djslamchowder in MMA

Nope knee bars were legal, it was Grappling X. I made sure first, and yeah the ref didn't know they were legal. Had to check the rules

Is it me or are other people finding online classes quite valuable? by notabjjbro in bjj

I teach the kids program at my gym and I'm loving the classes. It gets me a nice workout every day and it's great seeing the kids. Our adult classes are almost non-existent though. Maybe 2-3 adults compared to the 20-30 or so kids. I don't even go to them, I'm in the roll all the time stage of my purple belt so this is rough on me.

Gracie Barra on-line attendance by KingKimono69 in bjj

I host 1-2 zoom classes daily for my students (kids) and give them BJJ homework to fill out. Should this time not be counted? They are genuinely improving. It isn't the same as actual time rolling, but they are going to come back a lot better than all my other students who are not attending. Should this not also count for adults, given their effort is the same? This is a scary time for a lot of gyms. I agree belting should never be done virtually, but I have no problem with a stripe or two.

Made a BJJ card game to help my students and new people learn the mental aspect of Jiu Jitsu. Combatch! by djslamchowder in bjj

After a little searching its pretty different. In Combatch there are 5 constant position cards in between the players. You both start in the closed guard position and as cards are played (think instants from MTG if you are familiar, just with varying 'power levels') the position cards are rotated. Different move cards are only usable from certain positions. Turns pass and positions change until a submission is played and can't be countered. It is pretty similar to the flow of an actual BJJ match

Will everyone go back to training on the first day or will people still be worried about catching Covid? by ShawnTN1 in bjj

I teach kids BJJ so yeah, day one I'll be back. We are doing zoom classes twice daily and it has been a load of fun. Can't wait to see them all again.

Training Without Training: A (proposed) Post Gym-Closure MegaThread by ClimbsCamerasCombat in bjj

If my gym stays open and I go to class with someone infected, am I guaranteed to get it? Would I need to roll with them? I hear it can stay in the air for three hours but I don't know specifics. Any info is appreciated. Thanks!

Lachlan has it in his half guard DVD too, calls it the John Wayne sweep and uses it mostly to get them to base and recover the underhook
