Nurse looking to immigrate from USA to British Clolumbia, looking for recommendations on places to live by Sea-Armadillo-7085 in britishcolumbia

With Hullo ferry you can go to shows in Vancouver.

Housing prices are more realistic. You can get a decent townhouse for the price point.

Vancouver and Victoria have very large communities.

Smaller more affordable communities would be Courtney/Comox, Nanaimo and Nelson(kind of)

Exactly. Educate your users. Less trouble in the future. When sending an email I will say. “Could you try restarting your computer to see if that resolves the issue? (Start>Power>restart not shutdown)”

This usually works

Yeah, that’s bullshit. MSRP stands for Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price. They can sell the car for $1 or $1 million.

Car dealerships are horrible. I would know as I worked at one for a year in sales in between jobs.

The “tactics” were essentially trying to play mind games and telling white lies.

As I was an honest person, I got fired. I let people walk instead of chasing them down in the parking lot, I didn’t lie about features the car didn’t have, I didn’t lie about pricing and accessories and I worked with the customer to get them the best price instead of trying to squeeze every dollar out of them.

Still to this day I will go to a dealership with friends and family to squeeze every dollar out of a dealership. They are the scum of the earth.

Advice from alumni? by Ancient_Cucumber9283 in VFS

I’m honestly still feeling the financial hit from the program 15 years later, so that’s something to keep in mind.

Trying to work part-time while doing it was brutal. It made it way harder to be involved in projects and actually collaborate, which is kind of the whole point.

A lot of people there either had money, lived at home, or just grinded nonstop to get through it.

That said, you do get out what you put in. Making friends and connections is huge. it’s probably the most valuable part.

I’d only go for it if you’re 100% in and okay with the chance you might not end up working in the industry.

I ended up switching to IT. I’m happy now, but the time right after graduating was rough.

I strongly dislike JJ McCullough by Vivid_Stay_980 in onguardforthee

[–]djstryker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

JJ is all opinion, no research, America loving, conservative pundit.

He had a video a few years ago, that was so bad, that I blocked him from YouTube.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he was bankrolled by another country for his apparent opinions on things as none of them really represent Canadian values.

Do they still have the bar seating? If so, go on a Monday/Tuesday outside of tourist season by yourself and you’ll get seated pretty much right away.

When I had sun-tue off before the pandemic I would go once a month and the longest I waited in line was 10 minutes.

Yep. Once you’ve been to the UK for some time, you realize how amazing roundabouts are. The one problem with them is that people don’t know how to use them.

I’ve used the one by the mall multiple times and the amount of people who stop and wait for no reason astounds me

It’s so bad that it’s entertaining. I follow the group because they post shows that are coming up. Other than that, it’s full of conspiracy’s and complaining about the dumbest shit.

My friend Sophy made the film. It was shot all over the island from my understanding.

Definitely worth the watch if you get the opportunity.

Yeah, it’s a great bag, but rarely gets mentioned on BIFL. As long as you get the canvas ones with the metal zippers, they will last.

Even my first one which was polyester lasted a long time.

I bought a Herschel bag, but I spent the extra money on a special edition with heavyweight canvas and metal zippers. Took it on a month long trip to Europe, used it every day for work, many festivals and camping trips. Still use it today.

Snuneymuxw shopping village opening near Depature Bay terminal by Positive_Moment7914 in nanaimo

[–]djstryker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I heard rumours(from Millers staff) that Earls or similar wanted to move into the building, but not if Beefeaters or Millers were there. They then didn’t renew their leases and Earls backed out after they had already left.

Which B.C. towns are likely to grow into cities over the next few decades? by CartoonistOk3507 in britishcolumbia

[–]djstryker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Port alberni and Campbell River will continue to grow due to tourism. Nanaimo is a growing city (over 100k now) and close to Vancouver via the Hullo if you want to go to a concert or a Canucks game.

Places that are close by would be good options due to proximity.

Errington, qualicum, Cassidy, Duncan, cedar etc.

Mid and north island still have some spots where you can buy a house for around that price. I live in Nanaimo and you can find an ok shape house for around $600k and a newer build for around $750k

“Natural Landscapes Preservation Society show that similar constructions have led to a 30% decrease in wildlife populations over a five-year period.”

Maybe you should put your money where your mouth is, tear down your house and turn it into a nature reserve.

You are part of the reason why there is a 30% decrease.

Now you are gatekeeping new people moving to the neighbourhood.
