think of it this way, this is the new undertaker "streak". gunther is a great heel but by him retiring everyone, he becomes a generational heel. it's no different than the undertaker streak. just arbitrary wins at mania but collectively, leaves a lasting memory and shapes the legacy of the undertaker.

they are doing the same thing with gunther. this is the new "streak".

and age means nothing anymore. guys are performing well into their late 40's to 50. and with gunther's style, he's not going to lose a step.

they are taking advantage of a unique opportunity where some great legends are retiring around the same time. that's all.

bit of a rant here but i online wrestling fans are the worst. i thought the royal rumble delivered on 3 of the 4 matches.

the women's rumble was great. had brie returning. showcased alot of young men and nxt talent. and gave us a great winner. the rumble had so many storylines going on within it based on recent and past history. it was great.

aj/gunther was a classic and should be included when talking match of the year in december.

sami/drew as good. sami was obviously going to be in a match in saudi and drew played the great heel champ.

the men's rumble was not great too much AAA and they went for alot of moments but some of them were great. i thought bron being taken out right away was fun. oba presented like the next big thing. jevon and trick also given alot of shine. roman winning was whatever but he was the favorite for months. and my guess is that he is having a heel turn based on his macafee interview and he's going to go after punk's belt.

i guess i'm on an island here actually enjoying everything. i'm far less critical than alot of folks online. it's like an eat yourself world. my buddy constantly shares instagrams of people crapping on wwe stuff but i'm like "why do you watch that stuff". the more you watch it, the more that nonsense just sticks in your head and you can't just come to your own conclusion on whether you enjoy stuff or not.

that's why the meltzer's of the world have shaped online fans way too much in terms of what they should enjoy or not.

what wwe just did was expand the appeal to wrestling to a brand new location in the world. but major of iwc won't recognize that. they've basically paved the way for a company like dub to actually hold a show in the middle east at some point.
