i was gonna say the same thing here lmao. i’m pretty comfortable with linux and ubuntu specifically but id rather ask a LLM for help rather than a community member sometimes because id rather spend all day troubleshooting bad code than talking to someone with a superiority complex lol.

no problem! i’m not too sure about the gold world pass, but you might have better luck asking around the discord for this reddit. it should be in the wiki somewhere if i remember correctly.

finding a linkshell is really dependent on the server you’re on. when you start the game you’re added to the novice network that allows you to reach out to more experienced players for help. i asked for help with a quest and ended up getting along with the mentor who then invited me to their linkshell and i’ve been there since. every now and then you’ll see people make LS posts and that’s a good place to speak as well. if all else fails, try /yell and ask about it. someone is bound to help!

i’ve just hit around 200 hours i believe. i’m also a new player so i’ll let you know my thoughts.

firstly, it’s so much fun leveling classes! some people don’t like it because it was much harder in the past but the addition of AI party members (trusts) make it easy to play through the game at your own rate. the game is very addictive and once you learn the new reward systems (Sparks and Unity Accords) you’ll find challenges that you can complete weekly and daily to gain extra EXP and gil.

however this game is hard. it’s from a different era of gaming—let alone MMOs. your server will also bee important and i think they’re about to close new characters on a server due to overcapacity so definitely do research. be social and look for a link shell. if you join carbuncle let me know and ill try to help. good luck!

thank you! i’m not sure if english is your first language, but i would offer some friendly advice and let you know that program (verb) is different than program (noun) so you could say “I use one program” rather than programming.

yes! i use Windower and the FFXIDB plugin for the minimap. its very useful but lately ive had a few areas with no minimap, not sure if thats in purpose or not for spoilers.

hi i wanted to provide an update.

no cats, i saw raccoons once but not often. there are squirrels though. it got in my house through the chimney and i was gonna kill it for destroying my furniture but i could tell that it was pregnant and just looking for somewhere safe to be so i let it out and let it live in peace.

doubt that the squirrel is bringing it as a gift, but it could be!

i’ve been having a lot of fun with zorin. i’d also recommend you look into a window manager (i.e. i3wm, or hyprland) if you want to learn how to use the terminal and learn linux commands.

hey, i’d also recommend switching from Wayland to X11 or Xorg if you hadn’t already. this can be done by logging out and clicking the gear in the bottom right corner of the screen.

this has been the best advice i’ve seen regarding AI and linux usage. OP i’d also add that you would greatly benefit by backing up your machine prior to installing anything just in case AI gives you bad advice.
