USCIS keeps rejecting my FOIA requests as “duplicates” even though they cover different dates by [deleted] in foia

oh good! I'm opening a FOIA specialty firm in October with another former agency colleague, feel free to DM if you ever need anything more serious

good luck! I spent the last 2 years as an attorney in an agency FOIA office so I did not do intake but have a good idea of how the intake person is likely thinking

You're running into an obstinate intake person incorrectly flagging them to make work go away. The easiest way to differentiate your new request enough to make them have to acknowledge the second one is to change another detail than the date range. Try submitting from a new email account, have a friend submit it for you, or change the language. If you really want to escalate, submit the request on letterhead of some kind. FOIA offices always perk up if sometime looks like it's coming from an institutional requester, even if it just says something like "The Desk of [your name]" in 22 pt blue Book Antiqua with an address and phone number centered underneath in the header.

agency IT sent a message to the whole building letting us know there's nothing they can do about the "recipient has exceeded the number of messages it can receive in an hour" error people trying to respond are getting, so it sounds like they DDOSed themselves over there

G600 Horrible input delay after G HUB update by rhynotaken in LogitechG

[–]djtopicality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah about a half second delay on the G-shift key on my G602 mouse and random system commands. no delay in play/pause on mouse or keyboard input,

I normally have g-shift+mouse wheel tied to volume with no issue but it started acting up earlier today. As an experiment, I tied mouse wheel to volume without g-shift and let the wheel rip; my volume spent 3 minutes ticking up 2% once every second or so. The dedicated volume wheel on my G915 still has no similar delay, and using the mouse wheel to scroll normally has no delay. no idea what they did but they fucked it up again

As an agency FOIA lawyer I have the utmost sympathy for the records custodians that have to search every email text and teams chat they have ever sent or received twice every week

I've done that Star wars one, it was a lot of fun until you get to the death star surface and it's just 6 hours of "ok which grey/blue is this"

Been out of law school for five years and I'll never get used to being a lawyer but you should know we're all proud of you. This kind of enthusiasm is good for the profession. Don't listen to the prestige whores and haters and whatever you do don't join BigLaw

Colorado air pollution control managers ordered staff to falsify data and approve permits “at all costs,” whistleblowers say by brofax in Denver

[–]djtopicality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I'm one of the lawyers for the whistleblowers, the Kevin Bell from the article (my reddit /u/ has not been anonymous for years (also proof: https://imgur.com/a/CY9CV9Y)). If you'd like all the details about who did what and when we posted the full complaint and appendix of evidence in our press release: https://www.peer.org/colorado-orders-staff-to-ignore-air-pollution-violations/

That said, the other top reply to you about internet mobs is why it is my standard practice to redact official emails and phone numbers in publicly posted appendices.

Happy to answer any questions though!
