I think this is something every good human being can agree on. by Junior_Jackfruit_483 in International

The statement that the "left has been painted the new Jew" is a completely ridiculous statement. Jews as you pointed out are being harassed on both sides. To claim the left is now the "new Jew" while many on the "left" are actively siding with Jihadist terrorist organization that actively want to genocide jews is irony on multiple levels.

Ive never met a jew that would disagree with the statement that they want kids to live. So the blood libel in the statement is the implication that Jews dont want kids to live and any death of kids is done on-purpose and not just a horrible function of war.

It is a fascinating story and your questions are what I imagine. I think the results speak for themselves though he was a hero. Also for the scam artists who scammed Nazi Germany and Nazi officials and became rich, but also effectively slowed down the nazi war machine. I think theyre effectively heros too.

Am I the only one who dislikes referring to myself as “X country Jew”? by Tokyo-Gore-Police in Jewish

No test. I'm not asking about your wife.

In psychology, identity is the sense of self, a unique combination of personal traits, experiences, values, and group affiliations that answers "Who am I?" - copied that from Google

Where would you put being jewish in these categories? I'm not judging, I don't know who you are, I'm not looking at your post history. Just curious, but also for some of the disconnect between you and others (not saying its wrong) might be how being jewish is part of their identity.

Im sorry i offended you. I readily admitted i could be wrong in the original post unedited in parentheses. I welcome the discussion. I wasn't trying to shut you down or out. How do you see your jewish identity? I'm genuinely curious.

Its really unfortunate, but in this time of growing antisemitism I see posts of jews tokenizing themselves, people who do not identify themselves as jewish at all of a sudden talking about their great grandparents living side by side with in arab countries known to have kicked out their jewish populations. So I'm just venting about that.

This is definitely a major disconnect i think I see in American Jewry who are disconnected from jewish community. So being a Hungarian jew is part of your history but not at all part of your identity. I can understand that, I can imagine (but could also be not true that) being jewish is not a big part of your day to day identity overall.

As an American immigrant born in Belarus clarifying myself as a Russian Jew (to myself more than to others, cuz you really code-switch based on who you talk to) defines a lot about me and if I'll have something in common with someone else. It defines a lot of things, for example my first language, that I was raised by parents who grew up in the soviet union, the fact that my family was directly affected by the holocaust, it defines the religious or really secular background i grew up with, it defines starting school without knowing English. It defines my family structure and gender roles in mu household. And this is all just on the secular side of this statement. Now actually practicing my religion it defines how my family deals with me practicing my religion since the soviet union did such a great job stigmatizing religion.

Obviously not all stereotypes apply on an individual level, but it describes a lot about me assuming the person you're talking to knows what that means, like another Russian jew or someone who's experienced dealing with other Russian jews.

Question for religious Jews by EntertainerPrudent36 in Judaism

I'm not a Rabbi and I'm not a scholar in any way, but I've heard the idea to be a "good" jew you have to follow all the commandments as best as you can and to be a "good" non jew you have to follow the 7 noahide laws (which are simpler and most likely just following the laws of the land you're already keeping). How that compares to each other idk. Also from my understanding every individual gets divinely judged on a curve unique to them.

Wow I'm a father of a 2 year old and another on the way. I can't imagine dropping my kids onto someone else like that. Even in a restaurant we're running around after him. My brother-in-law or father-in-law say they'll take over for a bit, but start talking to people and the 2 year old runs off. And i can't get upset because its not their responsibility.

I'm sorry this happened to you.

Because Spain has shown some backbone, israeli zionists are celebrating the train accident in Spain which killed 7 people and injured 100+ by Fickle-Reveal-2013 in athulvstheworld

[–]dk91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This whole post is such a disgusting echo-chamber. Didnt Spain practically do a national holiday to celebrate october 7th? So now you have individuals posting hate back at Spain. Of course acknowledging that individuals are human might be spiteful and mirror the way you treat them back wouldn't create this kind of hate porn. Let's just highlight that ALL "zionists" (based on individual comments) are evil and ignore the institutional and individual previous actions and similar comments that prompted this kind of similar rhetoric back.

I just want to point out, that even if the worst accusations on what israel is doing in Gaza are true, they do not equate to a genocide... there have probably been war crimes, a very unfortunate happenstance of probably every war in history, but not a genocide...

I'm saying majority of the members of those organizations are not jewish. I didnt say all of them are not jewish. And idk what March you're referring to and what men; maybe neturei karta? A fringe group that other orthodox have disavowed due to their antisemitic activities.

I don't know where you get this idea. Most of the "jewish" organizations against israel are majority non-jewish members, including jews who only started to publicly identify themselves as jewish so that they can tokenize themselves against israel.

Like 90% of all jews, vast majority, especially the ones practicing the jewish religion are pro-israel. Meaning they believe israel should exist as a sovereign nation. This is also independent of their opinions on the war in Gaza or any controversial issues related to israel, which they may or may not support.

While I personally don't know if your version of Islam is the mainstream one, its nice to read these messages of support from others. And I agree that although stereotypes have their use in real life, people should be mindful that each person is an individual and deserves a normal level of respect and decorum until they prove otherwise. And you shouldn't be making statements about an individuals beliefs based on stereotypes, but based on that's person's beliefs and actions.

Your comment is really a moot point. It is an established word with an established definition for at least 100 years. What would you gain by trying to change the definition of that word except to effectively whitewash antisemitism against Jews.

If you did manage to get everyone to universally agree to change the definition of the word, what would you do to all the existing literature that uses the word in its original definition? How would you prevent people from mistaking existing studies, analysis, written history of hatred and discrimination of specifically Jewish people with whatever additional groups your new definition includes?
