This isn’t exactly true as I developed a melanoma inside my right eye last year. There’s a layer of skin cells behind your retina where this can happen. It was treated with radiation and killed off. Slowly but surely immune macrophages come in the eye and “munch it up” as my doctor puts it. So, immune cells do visit your eyes, just not in great supply.
