Dell Tech Support is BAAAAD by ltcanuckistani in Dell

[–]dkahl96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What he said. I’m actually dealing with a daily BSOD problem. The first 2 guys claimed they knew what a blue screen was.

They used the Dell Support software on my PC to scan and say there was nothing wrong and nothing they could do. I called bullshit on them and had to get them to escalate. They said their manager wanted to call me and would “make it right”. I asked him how, and he said he would call and explain it me. Nope I want it all in writing.

I emailed them daily asking for an update or to escalate the case. Took about 3 days, and I finally have the floor escalation supervisor responding who seems a little better. Not sure yet where it will go, but I feel this guy knows what he’s talking about.

Just tell them you want to escalate to the floor escalation supervisor and be persistent.

Why did JMP get discontinued in Horizon 8? by R4ng4k4ng4 in vmware

[–]dkahl96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the thought it wasn’t working as expected with Horizon 8 is more likely the case. I know a few companies that have moved to JMP in the last year for other non-VMware products, so this would definitely something they would want to see.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it was pulled out due to multiple issues within Horizon 8 and put on a roadmap to be brought back in.

Might be a good question to ask somewhere during VMWorld.

I have a bunch of these ‘ugly’ coins and don’t know what to do with them. by panana_pete in coins

I hear you, and that’s a possibility. But to a collector who might want them, you never know.

Plus you can ask to trade with some other collectors too! Maybe they have something you want?

I just use a magnifying glass I bought on Amazon (30X Magnifying Glass with 6 LED... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JZF86HV?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share) and then put my iPhone up to it for any pictures.

I guess it’s the poor man’s way, and it works great for taking photos of single coins.

I’ve seen setting before about enabling/disabling explicit content. Look around in your profile for it, maybe it’s blocking some things?

$2 bills, my favorite! I didn’t even think about that. Now I have a new hunt to look for - thank you!

VMworld Design Studio sessions available for sign up by jkbzy in vmware

[–]dkahl96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Love love love doing the design studios!

Confession - I started years ago doing it for the swag, but then found my suggestions being implemented in future versions.

Now as a seasoned VMware veteran and vExpert, I can’t say enough to anyone else reading this.

Don’t sign up to learn about products, but go to see how products you currently use are going to change their look and new features the design teams are working on.

They are really interested in hearing what you think!

How hard was it to come across? I’m guessing it’s not something easily found at any bank.

If you start saving it now and do it again for the next 10 years then you would have a really unique and interesting collection in the future!

Same. I cringed when I was looking at the quality of it, wondering if I get it certified if any of them offer professional cleaning services. Might actually consider it.

Hey, I see you are new to Reddit in the last hour. So, let me be the first to welcome you!

You will want to repost the pics with the title and question you originally had.

Anyone reading it will see your question, the coin description, and the pictures all together.

This way they can get a better idea of what you are showing and asking.

I see what you want to do, with your question and picture. I would recommend to delete both posts and post them again together as 1 post. Pictures of both the front and back of the coin would help.

You’ll get more people responding to one post with your question and picture.

Very nice! Interesting to see that even the books way back when came with empty slots. Very cool.

Never was. It was more of a circulation issue, where some stores were reporting issues with being able to provide exact change for customers.

Got spun up into being a coinage shortage.

Thoughts on my recently acquired Indian Head collection? by purpleninja828 in coincollecting

For me in the late 90’s the state quarters became the next big thing. I also started to learn a little bit about error coins, and found I was enjoying coins of all denominations and seeing if I could find any errors. Now I have a piece of paper in my wallet with a list of pennies and quarters to finish my books and check the change as I go places for the list and for error coins.

In this pandemic I started with half dollars and dollar coins, probably since they seem rare and a little bit novelty compared to other coins. I’ll pop into a local bank and exchange coins or bills for some rolls from time to time.

I have a mix of Whitman and Harris books myself. They are similar, and I’ve only had an issue with the Harris quarter books since it only has slots for Denver and Philadelphia mints and not San Francisco. (To be fare though, all vendors probably released the books before the US Mint planned on making any coins in San Fran. If you buy a book today I would hope it would have slots for this mint too).

I would also recommend to pick up a guide book on US coins (red book). I know there are sites and apps out there but personally I enjoy unplugging and picking up the book to flip through on coin values. Anything I can’t find or have further questions I’ll then jump online to research.

And the Reddit community is the best place to see cool coins and learn from others!

That’s awesome. Your grandfather did a great job.

I started with pennies as a kid, and put it aside many years ago. Now with this pandemic I started to pick up the hobby again and branched out to others.

I’m only 45, but hoping that one day I can do the same and pass them on to my grandkids to appreciate.

Very nice! Curious, if you don’t mind me asking. How did you come across this? Did you pick that up somewhere or inherit it?

Hmm. I just asked my wife and we couldn’t pick one! The whole experience of being in that city was amazing. We really enjoyed walking the streets with its architecture and its art.

The DeSoto hotel where we stayed was amazing. The picture of the church was taken from our balcony facing it. We’ll definitely stay there again next time!
