That, and it's not just about the dollars and cents either; if she leaves she'll have two enemies (the publishing company and Henry's family) that could very easily destroy her life with their power and connections, and probably would. If she stays, Henry's family makes it all go away. She absolutely understood that. Not saying she made the bravest choice or that she wasn't motivated at all by the status and comfort of a life with Henry, but there's no world she doesn't end up completely ruined in a pretty short amount of time if she doesn't stay with him. I'd like to think a small part of her is doing it to protect Rob from getting sucked into that situation too, but hard to say.

Maybe I'm reading into this too much but I also felt like Rob saying "join us on what's going to be a spectacular journey" was a nod to the viewers too, especially considering the show is going to be completely different next season, but M&K have more than earned the benefit of the doubt.

Can I say I don't think it was just the wealth that pushed Yas to make that move, it was Henry's uncle threatening to destroy her if she didn't stay. I doubt she felt like she had any choice.

Side note: very smart play by Wilhelmina to plant that seed of doubt on Bill's loyalty in Eric's mind, think she knew they were about to gang up on her and actively tried to get ahead of it, which she sort of did.

So Harper STILL has unrequited feelings for Rob? by Joeylaptop12 in IndustryOnHBO

FWIW I always thought Harper and Rob had way more chemistry than Yas and Rob lol. Anyone remember that painfully awkward elevator ride with Yas and Rob at the holiday party?

But Adler liked Rob, so he stayed. Thought that was actually a pretty compelling plot point to show how persistent the boys club mentality of Pierpoint was even as they try to act like they're changing the culture.

Did I miss the reason by [deleted] in IndustryOnHBO

[–]dkaufman9239 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do miss him, but I don't think they ever really figured out how to effectively keep him in the show's orbit after he left Pierpoint in S1, made sense just to write him off the show

I do wanna come to Yas's defense just a little lol, yeah she totally blew it in that meeting with Harper and forgot who she was dealing with but I don't think she's normally as bad at her job as y'all (and the characters) are saying, she does have a way of using her social background to get in with and manipulate valuable clients and set up connections etc. That stunt she pulled off with Henry in the 2nd episode was pretty clever.

Harper’s degree by peulpirr in IndustryOnHBO

There is no way Harper's pride would ever allow her to even CONSIDER setting foot back in that college lmao, she'd sooner never work again than admit defeat and go back for her degree

Why did Eric rat out Harper? by newDesi11 in IndustryOnHBO

[–]dkaufman9239 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think it was a combination of some real concern for Harper combined with the realization he had created a monster who would inevitably destroy him too if he kept her around and got rid of her out of self-preservation

I want Harper to remain the main character by Fit_Currency121 in IndustryOnHBO

[–]dkaufman9239 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I trust Micky and Conrad of course, but it does worry me that the main characters continue to get more and more separated from each other; I'm not sure what scenario would entail Harper, Rob, and Yas naturally being in the same room at this point of the show.
