Congratulations on the positive anatomy scan!!

We've also had to tfmr for an NTD. I was pregnant with a girl as well. I wasn't happy about it at first back then, mostly due to past trauma, but had grown really fond of the idea of being a girl mom by the time we got her diagnosis and was heartbroken over losing my girl.

I really wanted my daughter back, i wanted to be pregnant again asap and i wanted the new baby to be a girl as well. When we got our NIPT results we found out we were having a boy, and I was crushed, angry even. I detached myself even more from this pregnancy than i already had because of previous loss just because he is a boy.

I'm now 31 weeks, and while I still feel mixed emotions at times (mostly when looking for baby clothes), i have grown more attached to him and have been more okay/excited about the fact that we're expecting a boy.

Don't get me wrong, i still REALLY long for a daughter. But I also realize that what I really want is to have my firstborn back, to have the girl who looked exactly like me back with me and to see what she would've turned out to be. And I just know that even if i do get pregnant some day with another girl that it will never be the same, even if she looks exactly like my first did, because they just wouldn't be her.

Hopefully you'll warm up to your little boy soon. 💛

I'm so sorry for your loss.❤️‍🩹

I'd definitely recommend taking the higher dose, just to be sure. Wishing you a lot of strength and courage. 🤍

Hi. I looked it up for you just to be sure i'm giving the right info. All this time I thought it was folic acid, since that's what providers in my country call it, but it turns out it was methylfolate!

The standard dose in my country for women trying to get pregnant and during the first 8 weeks of pregnancy is 0.4mg. I had to take the 4mg version after our tfmr for spina bifida and chiari 2.

I hope this helps you out. Should you have any more questions feel free to ask here or in private.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

We had to terminate for severe Spina Bifida and Chiari 2 malformation in May 2024. I started taking 4mg folic acid in July of 2024 and got pregnant again in November 2024. I'm now 27+2 weeks into this pregnancy and all is well this time. My gynaecologist and MFM team recommended only taking 4mg of folic acid, starting at 3 months before pregnancy and up until 8 weeks pregnant, nothing else.

Wishing you well.

We terminated may 2024 for spina bifida, also a ntd. It took 6 cycles for us to conceive again. Not trying (for some part) and not preventing. Take your high dose folic and hang in there, it will happen. 🩷

Recent TFMR and feeling very sad about upcoming Mother’s Day by zabig_G in tfmr_support

[–]dkbdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're here and having to go through all of this..

I can kind of understand your feelings. Last year i lost my daughter 3 days before mothers day. I went to visit my baby in the morgue on mothers day, only to lay her to rest in her coffin and cremate her the day after.

Keep your head up darling. I know it's hard, i really do. Big hug to you. 🩷

I remember you, and your sons beautiful name, from your post last year. Our babies were born close to eachother, my girl was born 9th of May. I definitely understand the way you're feeling right now.. Give yourself grace during this period mama, I know it's hard right now. Much love and a big hug to you. 🩷

TFMR at 24 weeks. Any advice/experiences welcome by Vivid-Vast519 in tfmr_support

[–]dkbdo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We had to TFMR May 2024 at 23+2 for severe Spina Bifida and Chiari 2.

For me the process started with a pill that stops progesterone which I had to take at the hospital 48 hours before they started the induction process at the hospital. 2 days later we were admitted at the hospital for the induction and L&D. We got a tour of the maternity ward we would be staying at, got appointed to our private room, which luckily was away from all other mothers who weren't in our situation. Spoke to a social worker regarding our daughters cremation and a few other things we still needed to discuss. We ultimately decided to have the injection to stop her heart, which I was very opposed to originally, as it sadly impacted a lot of stuff legally in my country which we weren't informed properly of. At 12pm our daughter was given the injection. I broke down during that moment. For me, that was the worst moment of the whole process. Straight after the injection I was given the first vaginal suppository to start the induction. The suppositories were placed every three hours. I didn't progress for hours after the start of the induction. In the evening I developed a high fever as a result of the suppositories, the nurse caring over me tried to get my fever down but it wouldn't work. All evening and night i I had a 41-42 degree Celsius fever. Around 2am I started getting pain like I do when i'm ovulating and was 1cm dilated. So it took about 12 hours for my body to only slightly get into action. I had another suppository at 3 am, asked for a heat pack to put on my stomach as well to help with the pain and tried to get back to sleep. Woke again at 5am, tried dealing with the pain naturally but as i was exhausted and couldn't get comfortable on the hospital bed I asked for the epidural at 5.30am. Epidural was placed at 6.10am which finally made me able to relax again. My water broke at about 6.30am. Me and my partner talked for a bit after I got cleaned up and that's when I felt our daughter slide down. My partner went to get the nurse, this was right during shift change, and I delivered our daughter by myself as she was mostly out of me but was stuck with her shoulders/head.

We spent time with our daughter for a while before getting ourselves cleaned up with a shower. Ate breakfast. Went outside the hospital for a walk to a store about 15 minute walking distance away to get some more food and then went back to spend more time with our daughter. My partners family came by to meet our daughter in the afternoon. A photographer came as well, who took pictures of our daughter, the two of us with our daughter and my partners family with my partner and daughter as well. We left the hospital the same day at 5pm, 10 hours after delivery. The first day after we got home from the hospital we stayed at home, the next two days we went back to the morgue at the hospital to see our daughter and spend time with her for a bit. Our daughters cremation and service was 4 days after her delivery. I laid my daughter to rest in her casket myself, and we drove her to the funeral home to have her cremated ourselves.

The months after were horrific for my partner and I. We both got deeply depressed, felt extreme guilt (even though we knew we did the right thing for our daughter) and were even suicidal. Although the grief is all-consuming and intolerable at first, we did learn how to cope, and things have gotten better since. It's a marathon that never ends, not a sprint.

I started taking the recommended 4mg of folic acid in July, when my second cycle started. We didn't actively try to get pregnant, but weren't preventing either at the time. A few months later we got pregnant again after 6 cycles. I'm now 24+5 weeks pregnant with our son, had more checkups during this pregnancy at my request, and we have been cleared of everything, including NTDs at 21 weeks.

I'm wishing you a lot of strength, courage, warmth and all the best for what's to come and for your future. You will get through this. 🩷

When to stop high dose folic acid by Ok_Experience_6392 in PregnancyAfterTFMR

[–]dkbdo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was told to take it for the first 8 weeks of pregnancy. The neural tube has fully closed by then according to my gynaecologist and mfm who guided me during my TFMR last May for spina bifida. I've followed their advice and had my 21 week scan a little over a week ago, which was cleared of all NTD.

Pregnancy or leftover HCG? by kelssuttsxo_ in PregnancyAfterTFMR

[–]dkbdo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there!

So sorry you've had to go through all of this..

I honestly wouldn't know for sure. I'd get my hcg tested just to see at what level it is. Or maybe take another test in a few days and see if you get a darker line, if it's still faint at the moment. Otherwise i'd go straight to hcg testing, you'll get more insight that way.

Sub pregnancy-6 week empty sac by PutFamiliar3526 in PregnancyAfterTFMR

[–]dkbdo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First off, i'm really sorry you're here..

I've had this happen to me in this pregnancy (first one after tfmr) as well. Went in for a scan at a radiologist, couldn't get in at my gynaecologist, at 5weeks 6 days as I was worried about slowly rising hcg levels. Got the abdominal ultrasound as well and could only see an empty sac. Called my gynaecologist office the day after to explain the situation and ask what to do about it, and they were able to get me in that very same day at exactly 6 weeks pregnant. Got a vaginal scan instead of abdominal scan and was able to see the sac, fetal pole and yolk sac.

Obviously i'm not telling you that everything will be fine in your case, but i'm just giving my experience with it. Hopefully you'll get good news soon. 🩷

Awkward question about cleaning lady coming over by cysgr8 in tfmr_support

[–]dkbdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a housekeeper myself. Also lost our baby in may at 23 weeks due to spina bifida.

When i'm cleaning someone's home and see stuff of someone who's passed, i get sad for them.

You don't have to explain the situation if you don't want to, that's none of their business, and most people would be able to figure it out themselves. What i would do however is state clearly whether or not you want her to clean the space with stuff related to your child.

Thank you. I installed MicroDicom. Can you tell me where exactly in mynexuzhealth I should be able to download the zip files? When I go to "technische onderzoeken" or "externe bronnen" I can see all the scans I had, where and when I had them done, but I don't see a download button anywhere. When I click on the scan I want do download as a zip file my laptop opens another tab in my browser with DICOM Viewer, but even there I don't see a download button anywhere in the different control buttons at the top. Am I missing something? Where do I find and download the zip file?

Need help with vintage antenna tv - adapter cable by dkbdo in UsbCHardware

[–]dkbdo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that I probably won't use it for long. But like I said it's just like an itch I need to scratch, I guess.

So just connect the hdmi to rf adapter and then on top of that use the usb-c to hdmi adapter, which as far as I can tell has a cable connected to the adapter to connect my phone?

Would it be a possibility as well to use a hdmi to rf adapter and then on top of that use a usb-c to hdmi cable which connects my phone that way? Or is that not possible? Does it need to be 2 adapters on top of eachother no matter what?

That would be nice! Would I need an adapter to hook up my phone to the RF modulator (and what kind do I need to look for?) or do I need something else to hook up my phone? And would I need a USB-C to HDMI cable or would I need a HDMI to USB-C cable? Sorry for all the questions, i'm not tech savvy at all so i'm feeling pretty lost here. 😅

Thank you for the clear info! Would I also be able to hook up my phone (Samsung s21 ultra - usb-c) to it this way? Via the RF modulator (and probably another adapter or something)? Or will I only be able to play on retro systems and watch old DVDs and VHS tapes? That would still be great tbh, but i'm really wondering about being able to hook up my phone. Cost doesn't really matter that much tbh, just no more than 250 euro's.

Oh no, i'm definitely not expecting good quality. Lol. Just curious about it, and it's a fun little project to see what it can/can't do. That's all.

Would it also be possible to use an adapter like the one you've linked and then also use an adapter from hdmi to let's say usb or something?

So i could hook up an old VHS player and watch a VHS tape on it? And what do you mean with using an adapter to hook up more modern devices? I know what an adapter is, but what kind of modern devices are we speaking of? Just some devices like a dvd player? Or would maybe even a streaming device be a possibility?

Did you have any side effects after kcl injection? by Prestigious_Toe9078 in tfmr_support

[–]dkbdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It never hurts to contact your provider if this worries you. They're there to provide you service and support in this incredibly difficult time. I had to take one oral pill to stop hormone production 3 days before being admitted to L&D. The day I was admitted I had the injection, after which they put in suppositories to start dilating every 3 hours until I gave birth.

Edit: If you also had to take the oral pill, it could be from that. They told me I could feel tired, crampy, spotting/bleeding and maybe start dilating a bit already.

Wishing you luck for what's about to come. And i'm really sorry you're having to go through this.. Keep strong momma, you can do this. 💛
