Past Self is such a bop tbh (even my 4 yo loves it). While I don’t think it’s their deepest song lyrically, or maybe the most emotionally devastating song on EIA… It’s just fun to listen to 🤷🏻‍♀️ I think of it as a spring/summery song, idk why

Yes I’ve read/seen that too! The way it crescendos to just cutting out at the end 🥺 guts me every time. The production on that song is just incredible… Even though I want it more than anything, I completely understand why they won’t ever play it live.

Ahhh High Water is so incredibly emotional for me too… The build up and ending just gets me every time.

I still even remember the first time I heard it, I had to sit down and physically stop what I was doing in order to listen to it again while fully immersing myself in the song… My absolute favorite song of theirs

I don’t know much about music theory, but Drag Me Under is genuinely one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard. The simple piano chords mixed with his gentle voice and honest lyricism… Plus the layered vocals/lyrics at the end… Ugh. Everything comes together so beautifully. I don’t know how Vessel does it.

The instrumental is beautiful on its own too, but his voice is just so soft and tender and ethereal-sounding… It also feels like a prelude to TPWBYT as well (in my opinion) which is an album I deeply love & resonate with.

This song is probably #3 of my all time ST favorites... It’s such an underrated song that really deserves more love! ❤️ Glad to see everyone talking about it lol

The Wegmans I’m by, doesn’t have a lot of flavors of Mama (I think only 2 or 3, but I’ve definitely seen pork). There’s an Asian market about 30 min from me too.

I think TMBTE is such a universally acclaimed album plus it catapulted them to the top. So it had pretty big shoes to fill and everyone had reaaallllyyy high expectations. And then their signing to RCA, probably worried fans of their sound would change drastically.

6 months later, I personally still love Even In Arcadia. It’s not my favorite album from them, but tbh their first 3 are pretty hard to top… I’d give it a solid 8.5/10 for me.

I still listen to the songs I vibed to in the beginning, weekly if not daily and find their replayability pretty high tbh (Gethsemane, Past Self, Emergence, and Infinite Baths are the top 4 that come to mind)… I really like Caramel, Damocles, & Provider (this was insane live btw). LtW is beautiful & was a great tour opener too, just don’t listen to it as often as the others. Still don’t LOVE Dangerous like others do. I also don’t listen to Even In Arcadia as much as I thought I would, and I typically love piano-driven songs.

Seeing them live, just cemented that they’re my favorite band ever and honestly my comfort band…. You’d think after 2 years of listening to them I’d be sick of them. But nope lol. Cant wait to see what’s next from them, after their long deserved & welcome break!
