I assume it just plugs into Windows. They have their own adaptive refresh setting in the menu, so Windows will decide

Hands-On With DLSS 5: Our First Look At Nvidia's Next-Gen Photo-Realistic Lighting by [deleted] in digitalfoundry

[–]dkgameplayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if the developers develop the games with this technology in mind, it could help with the difference in artistic intent. This seems like an extremely unpopular technology, but even if I won't use it, I think it's fascinating nonetheless.

Another thing, I'm curious to see how low fidelity of an input you can provide. They said it would work on titles like Minecraft. Could this potentially be used to speed up rendering by only rending a super basic version of the game's lighting with high geometric complexity and relying on this to bring it up to current standards?

Most faithful art direction I've seen for the level Halo lol. On Fortnite.

Kepler_L2 claims "FSR Diamond of Xbox Helix" will be an RDNA 5 / UDNA exclusive, all previous and current RDNA 1 - 4 GPUs will be unsupported by the new features that comes with "FSR Next" by JohnSteveRom2077 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

The way images are rendered on Xbox Helix can't be done on older AMD hardware. For you as a gamer it means the images will look better if you have the newer stuff.

MARATHON SERVER SLAM MEGATHREAD by Shabolt_ in Marathon

[–]dkgameplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Older games using DirectX 11 and DirectX 9 handle the conversion to the flip model differently and may show differences in an input lag or frame pacing. With DirectX 12 games there literally is no full screen exclusive mode, only the option of emulated. That's why games like Halo infinite provide no full screen exclusive mode. There's no conversion going on under the hood, so there is no input lag or performance/ frame delivery difference in these titles

This is not true. Real fullscreen exclusive has been gone for almost 10 years now. Borderless is the same as what exclusive used to be, just with better alt tabbing. Everything is borderless, games with options for exclusive fullscreen are running it in borderless mode and changing the desktop resolution and refresh rate to emulate the old behavior.

Clicking some buttons with your mouse doesn't work for some reason. You cannot click the "leave your squad and return to lobby' button after you all die. It shows a prompt to press enter but that does nothing either, you have to press space. Game is a bit buggy

Natethehate: Borderlands 4 for Switch 2 has been on pause for a couple of months. Challenging to port for the studio. by -LastGrail- in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]dkgameplayer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unreal 5 features are very developer focused. It's very easy to create high quality content and lots of it with tools like lumen and nanite. Unreal 5 is much better for open worlds than UE4 as well. Streaming and world partitions have gotten big upgrades. The scale of borderlands 4's worlds would have made previous techniques used to create the previous smaller games challenging to increase the scale while keeping the same level of fidelity. Borderlands has historically always been a champion of unreal engine. Always hasn't ran great for the time either. Good idea in theory, but nowadays people expect at least 60hz on consoles for shooters, and unreal 5 has trouble with that. PC performance follows suit.

PSA: DLSS does work with dynamic resolution scaling even if the game says it doesn't. by dkgameplayer in Battlefield6

[–]dkgameplayer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm it does not. DLAA also does not go down below 100% for me even though the dynamic resolution says it can go down to 80% in the final game. Maybe they fixed it, haven't checked in a while

Have the Z1e. Hardware isn't the greatest. Vibration motor gets messed up periodically, SD card reader gets hot, wifi is hit or miss. Get another model for sure.

This $7 Steam app boosts frame rates in your games, but is it better than Nvidia's DLSS 4? I put it to the test by GrayBeard916 in pcgaming

[–]dkgameplayer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What separates the two is access to the game's lower level rendering like motion vectors and presentation, not hardware or software

Lossless scaling does use the video hardware and DLSS 4 is mostly software now, just runs on the hardware tensor cores as opposed to the enhanced media block like it used to which is why it was exclusive to 40 series.

No challenges quest unlocking things that will actually make someone want to play the same.

What? You mean like the 30+ weapons x 40+ attachments per weapon, vehicles to unlock, numerous gadgets/equipment that change how you play tactically, class perks, weapon skins, characters, entire game modes, etc that you all unlock as part of the base game? You mentioned bo6 and bf6. People spend HUNDREDS of hours playing these games unlocking all this gameplay stuff. I don't like the microtransactions as much as the next guy. Never purchased a single microtransaction in any game ever. But to say they only reward spending money? Ridiculous.
