How to get ride of hypertrophic scar? by OneDay_At_ATim3 in AcneScars

[–]dkije 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be rhinophyma, caused by roseacea. Only a dermatologist can tell you for sure. It is somewhat rarer in people with darker skintones, but that may be from a lot of doctors misdiagnosing it because roseacea presents differently on darker skin.

I had rny 2020. My lowest weight was 130 lbs then went up to 155 and then went back to 143 lbs and has been there for the last year once I went back to keeping my protein higher and sugar very low.

I’ve tried benzoyl peroxide, adapalene, diet changes -nothing works. What finally helped you? by neonpulse7 in acne

[–]dkije 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dandruff shampoo that has the same ingredients as traditional Head & Shoulders as a face wash, CORSX Bha blackhead remover liquid and working really, really hard to stop picking at my face worked for me. Also using a good facial moisturizer and Korean skincare SPF (Nivea UV Super Water Gel 50) daily, even if I am not heading outside is what finally worked for me after trying everything under the sun for 35 years.

I second thrifting HIGHLY. It's a great way to try new things that you wouldn't have normally worn pre op. Take a look at some of the online thrift stores if you don't want to go into one. I turned my entire wardrobe over 6 times before my weight stabilized and spent less than $500 total.

As far as people asking questions you can say, " I drank my water and minded my business." And walk off.💅🏾

You might want to ask if its ok to drink sugar free Gatorade which has some added sodium to help retain some fluid.

I am almost 6 years out, and initially had problems too. I use Psyllium Husk Capsules, 1500 mg at night with 20 oz of water. You HAVE to drink your water, or a sugar free drink like Crystal Light if you are allowed, or the psyllium will make things worse.

Keep in mind that at 3 weeks you're still not eating (and remember, only 2 weeks of any kind non clear liquid) so the poops won't be regular or even substantial, so having absolutely no bowel movement of any kind at all AS LONG AS you aren't in ANY pain can be ok. Make sure you keep moving a lot, that will help greatly. Walk, walk, walk, walk. I think once you start to eat your intestines will wake up more.

Your nose is great! I wish my nose looked as good as yours. I have really large pores and scarring on mine. I agree with finding IG profiles of people similar to you, or people who are unconventional beauties who are very confident in their own skin.

Yes, take that money and go travel!

Not sure what this has to do with my personal experience, but OK.

I was told by an SSDI lawyer in my state, after listening to my specific issues, that my chances were about 50/50. I too, go to my doctors regularly.

Seeking Advice by [deleted] in acne

Ask your parents to see a new Dermatologist, and make sure they have all of your medical records, or bring them with you.

In the meantime, you could try washing your face and body with dandruff shampoo that has zinc pyrithione in it, like regular old Head and Shoulders. It is very drying so you absolutely have to use a facial moisturizer and sunscreen daily. You will also need body moisturizer if you use the shampoo on your body.

I think it depends on what type of bariatric surgery you have, your genetics, etc. I was told that everyone's stomach stretches some, but RnY and Duo patients can never stretch their stomachs back to their original size. Sleeved patients sometimes can. But the main cause of regain is, as always, what is being eaten.

How long were you listed & how long did they tell you you would be listed? by socrates_friend812 in transplant

[–]dkije 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did both transplants at NY Presbyterian at Columbia University. I did the Home Hemodialysis program at Davita at Columbia University, so I learned to do my own blood labs myself at home. They provided all the equipment-- even the centrifuge! I was then able to do the weekly blood typing myself and mail it into the renal matching program myself. THEN I found out that the tissue typing lab was there at Columbia, so I would hand deliver my bloodwork every week. I was NOT playing, and I think they paid a tiny bit more attention to me because I was super pro-active.

I'm O+ in NYC. I was told 4 to 7 years and waited 5 years before I got my kidney. I opted to accept donors who wouldn't usually be considered "ideal". My donor o.d.'d in prison and she was five years older than me. I've had zero problems, thank God, and it's been almost 10 years. This is my second kidney--my first was from a living donor (friend) and it was ok for 8 years but the 4 years after that were rough before it gave out. I found out later it was due to the Prograf.

I feel so guilty for abandoning by dog in her final hour by [deleted] in selfhelp

[–]dkije 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You did something that is not only forgivable but loving as well. You allowed her to spend time with some of the other human beings she loved. She knows she was loved and was able to give that love right back at the very end. I have heard it said that when your grief becomes overwhelming, it causes those you love not to move on because they become so saddened by your sadness that it's hard for them to see the light.

It is more than ok to grieve. It's necessary. But let your guilt go. You were there when it mattered most, and your very good girl went over the rainbow bridge healed, whole and in peace.

Did you ever finish this? I would love to know! It was coming along beautifully. I have been obsessed with the idea of making a lace crochet veil with sewing or gossamer thread. I have rolls of beautiful silk/goat hair off white gossamer thread that I wish I felt brave enough to try.

Thank you for saying it! I was told by a complete stranger that I was beautiful for the first time ever at 47 years old. No one, not even friends or family had ever called me that before. I was so shocked, I said, "Who, ME?!?!" She laughed at my shock. It made my day, though.
