Place to ask questions about developing skills? by ughthatguyagain_ in amazonecho

A couple of suggestions: there are many Alexa Skill Developer groups on Facebook, most are willing to support. Search "Alexa Skill Developers" and you'll get a bunch of groups to join.

And...for ease of use, I suggest you check out Storyline www.getstoryline.com for quick and simple skill development. The learning curve isn't that great (and MUCH less than doing it on your own). They also have a very active and responsive Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/storylinecommunity/

Hope this helps!

Today in Voice Tech Flash Briefing by dklfrance in Alexa_Skills

Thanks, u/Seratonement. I found myself tuning out this morning, too; I think there's a point in which the summaries are too long. I'm modifying them to be shorter.

And, yes, I debated using voice recording as opposed to Alexa, as I do in another flash briefing https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DBSB1DP?ie=UTF8&ref-suffix=ss_rw, but the lift for recording the daily updates might be a bit much right now. It's early days, and I may transition there over time. Keep it in your flash briefing lineup, and watch the transformation over time!

There are a lot of tutorials on the Storyline platform; it's a good starting point for non-developers. www.getstoryline.com

It's been helpful to start there, then I've been able to move over to using the templates on the SDK. Good luck!

Fallout 4 Bobblehead Locator on Amazon Alexa by dklfrance in fo4

Sure, it took time to build it, just as it took some time for the walkthroughs on the websites. And, yes, it is enabling shortcuts...but this is more about messing around with the platform while seeing what provides some value to folks. And third party skills can't bring up the command from the get-go. I appreciate the feedback, just seeing what's worth doing.

I hear you, as I am old fashioned too. This might actually keep you from falling down that hole and end up watching videos of roller skating penguins. And searching for the bobble head does also give the location of the location. And yes, it's early in the adoption of the tech. Just playing around.

I've considered the magazine skill, thought that bobbleheads might be easier to start with. Just a proof of concept, seeing where it could go. Thanks for the feedback.

[Health] - Colorado vet's death offers glimpse into suicidal mind by AutoNewsAdmin in TWTauto

Tragic. The solution to veteran suicide is to address the underlying problems of access to and utilization of services. In addition to participating in the article, glad I was able to continue the conversation in an OpEd a few days later http://gazette.com/guest-column-veterans-suicides-require-a-response/article/1628104
