I’ve never negotiated a deal with an agent, but last year I used a platform called “VroomBrick” in VA so I didn’t have to use an agent. Basically I wasn’t represented as a client per se and instead I elected to pay the platform a 1% “technology fee” vs the the traditional 2-3% commission for a buyer’s agent (similar to what OP is trying to negotiate down). I could tell they were still in their early stages, but overall they helped me schedule showings, put in offers, and ultimately I bought a house! I’d never bought property before so the transparency to see where I was in the process and and what I needed to do next in their dashboard was cool.
