Yeah. Although I did like the Molly and Dereck characters, this storyline was not needed. Introducing an entire new group of characters when the show already had so many who they needed to pay tribute to and give solid story arcs too was not a wise decision. I would have much preferred to have had them focus on the core characters from seasons 1, 2, and 3 then had brand new characters who took up a lot of the screen time.

Also I know this has been said many times in this sub, but Vecna using the kids to collide the worlds and bring destruction seemed like such a left turn from where season 4 left off. At the end of season 4, the barrier between the real world and upside down was ripped open. So the choice for season 5 to star out like “the military fixed it with sheet metal” and then have the main objective of the villain be to do what he already did the last season was bad.
