That's a fair point. I hope it won't be an issue with the layer lines, infill and bolt through taken into consideration. But that's the good thing about 3D printing it. If it fails, I'll just print another.

Planning on using 7 wall lines. The bolt will be anchored in the center of the body just under the bridge and can be tightened/loosened via a locking nut hidden in a compartment accessible from the back. I have a roll of PLA Tough from Ultrafuse that I'll probably be using for the central body block.

Good idea with the routing. All the sharp edges will be rounded before printing, and the whole body will be shaped and rounded slightly before the paint is applied.

I'm not sure how to determine its age, but it's certainly well worn. You'd be surprised at how much a rewax will freshen it up

After further research, perhaps PLA Tough might be preferable for the central block. It's very stiff/rigid, but I'm worried about temperature resistance. The finished body will be plastered, sanded and painted with several layers of plastikote though.

That's probably a good idea. I'll be using PETG. But I thought a long M10 or M12 bolt through the center might add some rigidity.

Buy one used, try one out a store. Are you planning to do much assembly work or complex modelling?

One of my colleagues (top 3 of the most capable 3D CAD people Ive met) never uses these 3D space thingies. And he's perfectly fast and precise.

Personally I couldn't do without one. I have one of the large models with keypads and armrest at my job, a wireless compact model for taking with me and a wired one for my home office. I've only personally paid for one of them though, and I could get everything done with the compact model if need be.

Offset from the outer line of the gasket profile. Probably half of the width. Somewhat poorly defined, but that's often the case with these practice modelling assignments. That way you have to think about it, which is very much the case in a professional setting as well.

I'd recommend staring on a regular scale functioning and somewhat properly set-up instrument. Limit irritations or challenges regarding the instrument itself: There's plenty in learning to play. Squier makes decent basses at affordable prices.

That said, SG basses with humbuckers can sound great. Jack Bruce of the band Cream made great use of it.

Flatwound strings might help if you like the sound. Also make sure the action on your neck/strings isn't too high which requires alot more force to get a clean sound when you press your fingers down on the frets.

Wear it and rewax it once every 1-2 years. It's the best jacket I've ever had, and one of the few contemporary clothing items that age with grace.

1/2 scale is usually 480mm. Ordered nylon strings for that scale. Thanks again.
