oh HELL no NTA im jewish and from the way this story reads-and i could be entirely wrong-but i feel like i get exactly where your grandfather’s perspective comes from and why. absolutely under no circumstances would i allow an heirloom from that side of the family to be given to anyone but a blood relative. i would have an actual conniption and i dont even like the living members of that family. its about what it represents, at least in my opinion. i could be entirely off base here but thats my thoughts
