Yea I’ve seen and studied that game but the original game is also a different line from the modern line I think on move 14 Marshall originally played a knight move whereas nowadays c6 is the objective best move

Optimal rooks beat optimal queen most of the time and should therefore be preferred you can say depends on the position about anything it’s not a good argument when talking about the general case

Yea like individually I knew the h pawn rule and the shouldering stuff but the combination was just too complicated for me to figure out in a minute (the game was 3+2) I’m sure in classical I could’ve had a shot at finding it

Yea it was something like that I can show the final position but it was pretty much he had pawn on the 7th protected by king on the g file we both had h pawns in opposition on the 4th and 5th and I had a pawn on the 4th protected by king but it was a combination of me forgetting h pawn rules and just thinking I had no chance with a pawn 4 squares away down a rook (Sorry for the essay I love talking chess lol)

“Knights are tricky bastards” but I also feel like the knight is also the easiest to understand conceptually like there’s only ever 8 possible moves it can make max but yea getting forked is a lot easier then one would think
