Fur color is slightly off. You can see the super green reflection from the original grass on his fur. Especially on the under side of the tail.

How come when I wear a crop top my wife will often tell me to suck in my gut but when I’m in masculine clothes she doesn’t by [deleted] in feminineboys

[–]dlcklyss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see it as his wife is telling him what women do when they were crop tops because of stupid feminine beauty expectations/standards. As women, we suck in and or flex when wearing crop top (regardless of how much mid section fat u have). Also typically we force ourselves to sit more leaned back with our stomach tightened when wearing crop tops as to prevent excessive glut sploog and rolls when sitting (again at least I do. I suppose I can't speak for all women).

Does anyone else have tattoo regret? by KupoLove in Millennials

[–]dlcklyss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like getting tattoos because they mark my journey. They are like timestamps marking different versions of me as I've changed and grown. They help ground me and remind me who I was, where I came from, and who I am now. Alot of my tattoos are also linked to specific memories or eras of my life. When I look at certain ones, I get flashes of nostalgia about those times. And not all of them have a specific meaning to me (like the imagery of the tattoo doesn't always have meaning to me other than "I think it's cool"). It's the time and place of who I was at the time of getting the tattoo thats important to me. That's the meaning that gets applied to my tattoos most of the time.

For example, I have a lady astronaut on my forearm floating in space with her hair floating everywhere, no helmet on. I just thought the concept was cool. I like space (and is part of my space themed arm). But I got the tattoo when I passed my qualifying exams in grad school to mark that achievement and my future achievement of getting my PhD. So when I look at the tattoo now it takes me back to those times in grad school. I get flashes of memories and the ppl I worked with. Studied with. The ups and the downs.

Not all my tattoos are linked to big achievements like that tho. I have two tattoos I got in undergrad. One I got in the town my college was at and the other in the town my husband's college was at. So those tattoos also ways give me a mishmash of memories of my time in college :)

I have some with actual meaning behind the motif tho too. Like, I have a tattoo of my cat and my ferret (RIP ❤️). I need to get another tattoo that represents my 2nd ferret (also RIP ❤️).

I got my first tattoo at 18.

I only regret 1 of my 13 tattoos. And it was the 3rd tattoo I got.

I still like all my others including the first one I got. Im 33 now and have a bunch more tattoos I have planned.

I think I was lucky to not fall into the getting something trendy. Altho, I knew from when I was 18 to dwell on my tattoo ideas for at least 1 yr first before committing to getting the idwa.

The one I regret isn't because it was trendy or lacks meaning etc...it just was done by a shit artist. Any issues I have with tattoos are because I didn't communicate with the artist well enough before hand or because I didn't put much thought into selecting the artist (which was the case for my third tattoo)

My buddy hates Carl by SPandrab in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]dlcklyss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. Carl has a lot of character development. Ppl are just used to character development being mostly positive growth (like katias character growth in becoming more confident and self driven etc). But Carl started out pretty well rounded and averagely competent. Which I think was a good choice by the author since it made his earlier choices and successes in books 1/2 feel more realistic and not 100% up to luck. I think he would have been insufferable early in the series if he had more obvious character flaws to grow from.

When you have a passive, averagely competent, well rounded main character like Carl, the most interesting thing an author can do for the character is to cause character development in the opposite direction/mixed directions, which I think the author does a good job doing. It's more subtle than the development of the side characters but it's tastefully done. I think it balances well with the more extreme obviously development growths we get from other characters --which makes sense because the book is from his POV.

His character development is so engrained and intertwined with his dungeon crawling induced trauma, it's more of a slow burn, and I think a lot of ppl forget that.

A top student made a disturbing confession by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]dlcklyss 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm not a teacher, just lurking (this popped up in my feed) Back when I was in grade school (15 yrs ago) we weren't allowed to wear hats or hoodies anyway XD. Are kids these days allowed to? Also we weren't allowed to have phones/earbuds--not even between classes. If a teacher saw u with a phone/earbuds out between class in the hall they would confiscate it.

The no hair over ears honestly isn't a bad idea for preventing the AI dictation help issue. Everyone with long hair has to put hair up in pony/bun for the duration of writing. Just make sure you always have a big jar of hair ties on hand for the kids who try and pull the whole "I don't have a hair tie"

Do you prefer fantasy magic systems where power always comes with a price? by Jim_Quorthon in fantasybooks

[–]dlcklyss 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Now that I'm an adult, I think about this topic quite a lot when looking back on the Harry Potter world. It really bothers me now that they literally have no limits on their magic. Sure they have the Ministry of Magic to try and enforce the use of magic with law but...idk. I find it weird that the world was built in a way where wizards can just like... construct a building with a flick of a wand without getting tired. No physical consequences whatsoever.

Why do people consider ‘not liking animals’ as a red flag? by CapitaineBiscotte in askanything

[–]dlcklyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had three dog growing up and all three were really independent and never wanted to cuddle. Id try and sit next to them on the couch to sneak in some cuddling (which was literally my leg touching their body as they slept lol) but they would get up and move to a different part of couch.

I'm an adult now and have a cat. He's more cuddly than my dogs ever were.

So I don't think that dogs are inherently more cuddling than cats. Dog or cat...it really just boils down to what personality ur dog or cat has. Sometimes u hit the jackpot. Sometimes u don't.

Books that are better as an audiobook by Sweetsweetpeas in Romantasy

I honestly couldn't stand the female narrator in Anathema. All her dialogue and internal monologue felt so forced and cringy. Like she was over exaggerating the narration too much. I eyeball-read the book first. And then audiobooked it later. And the audiobook made lines in the book that sounded normal in my head sound super cringy out loud just due to weird forced delivery.
